Join us for a fun-filled afternoon of Dixie-Derby delight!
New Braunfels Lifestyle Magazine is excited to host this first of many ticketed events to come. We begin with The 1st Annual Dixie Derby Jubilee!
The Derby event will host a variety of activities throughout the day including bourbon tastings, friendly horse wagering via tickets, game opportunities to win tickets for wagering, hat stands, spring/summer fashion show, and of course, a Most Fabulous Hat and Most Dapper Gent contest!
The event is all inclusive including light beverages, open bar, mint julips, delectable southern fare food, and a dessert bar of epic proportions!
And you can't have a bonafide derby affair without an authentic jazz band! Music will be provided by the one and only Dirty River Jazz Band!
We're so excited about the event and hope to see you all there! And don't forget your fabulous hat and/or bowtie!

Featuring The Dirty River Jazz Band
The Dirty River Jazz Band is a traditional style jazz band hailing from San Antonio, Texas. The first band members originally met at Texas Lutheran University in Seguin, Texas; where most of them studied music. After a concert put on by San Antonio’s own Jim Cullum, Chris Alvarado and Kris Vargas decided to put a similar group together.
The band is managed by Drummer, Vocalist, and Arranger Chris Alvarado, who also handles bookings. The band is led on stage by Cornetist Kris Vargas and backed by Ian Anderson (Trombone), Nick Brown (Clarinet), and Dan Walton (Piano), Tyler Jackson (Banjo/Guitar), Edwin Brown (Tuba), and Sarah Ulloa (Vocals)!

Arrival/Check-In - Mint Julips and Live Music!
Once you arrive, feel free to walk the grounds and check out all the fun things going on at the event. You can view the prizes table and read up on the race contenders and decide which horses to place your bets(tickets) on. Mint Julips with other refreshments will also be served and The Dirty River Jazz Band will be in full swing!

"Most Fabulous Hat" and "Most Dapper Gent" Contest - Games & Prizes!!
We will be hosting a Most Fabulous Hat and Most Dapper Gent contest encouraging guests to doll up, dress up, and bring your best Spring Fling to the party!
We will also be having a variety of games and ways to win tickets to up your chances for the prize drawings!

Some of local shops around New Braunfels and Gruene will be presenting some of their most fashionable spring and summer collections. And if what I've seen around the shops lately and on Insta posts are sneak peeks of what's to come, then you definitely won't want to miss the show!

As part of our mission, New Braunfels Lifestyle Magazine is committed to helping lift small businesses and, as such, is holding the Derby event in conjunction with Small Business Week in an effort to help raise funds for this thriving micro-business community.
By purchasing a ticket or sponsorship, you help us get the word out and provide support for this wonderful community of artisans, artists, craftsmen, quilters, antiquers, designers, and more!
Here’s how it works! Upon ticket purchase, you can drop-in the name of a participating New Braunfels/Gruene merchant (merchant list is on the event website) and they will receive points for each ticket sold. During purchase, you’ll see a field to drop-in the name. Simple!
By purchasing a ticket or sponsorship, you help us get the word out and provide support for this wonderful community of artisans, artists, craftsmen, quilters, antiquers, designers, and more!

Micro-Merchant PARTICIPANTS
NBLM: Micro-Merchant Program
If you are a small business/merchant located in New Braunfels or Gruene, TX, you are eligible to participate in the program, upon agreement to requirements shown below, for free advertising in the magazine and promotion throughout the New Braunfels Lifestyle Magazine (NBlM) catalogue.
What do I have to do to participate as a small-business merchant?
1. All you have to do is let NBLM know that you'd like to participate.
2. Agree to encourage event ticket sales to your customers for any NBLM events and promote through your own social media sites (if any).
3. You will then receive NBLM event flyers/cards to include in customer purchase bags.
4. Instruct your customers to use your store name as the event "merchant name" when registering to buy tickets. (This info will also be noted on the flyers/cards).
5. Your store will get points for each ticket purchased with your store noted under the "merchant name" and more more points equal to bigger ads.
6. Once you build-up points, you can keep building-up for your preferred ad size or use whatever points you have to go towards next available issue. You are also able to schedule your ads to post in any future magazine issue within 12 months.
That's it! That easy!
