A memorial service to celebrate the life of Stephen John Smith will be held on Thursday May 30th at 10:30 a.m EST, at Florida National Cemetery located at 6502 S.W. 102nd Avenue Bushnell, FL 33513.
Following the service, there will be a luncheon held at VFW Veterans of Foreign Wars 10137 on Thursday May 30th, 2024 at
12:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. EST

In Loving Memory of Stephen John Smith

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Stephen John Smith, beloved father, grandfather, brother, friend, and honored veteran, who left us peacefully on April 12th, 2024 at the age of 67. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of passing.

Stephen John Smith was born on June 29, 1956 in Holyoke, MA to Warren and Helen Smith. He grew up in Chicopee, MA and graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School. Stephen went on to pursue a career in electrical technology while working at Baystate Medical Center, and became an electrician where he made lasting contributions and touched the lives of many for 28 years while working at the medical center.

Master Sergeant Stephen Smith, started his Air Force Reserve career at Westorver Airforce Base in Chicopee, MA with the 439th CES. Stephen's career ultimately took him to Florida where he supported operations at Duke Field, Hurlbert Field Special Operations and eventually retired from Eglin Air Force Base. Stephen served his country both domestically and around the world with honor and distinction as a member of the Air Force for 28 Years. Stephen bravely defended freedom and democracy in many countries that included Honduras, Panama, Turkey, Croatia, Oman, and Afghanistan (Bagram Air Base (455th Air Expeditionary Wing), FOB Salerno, FOB Wilderness) to name a few. His dedication and sacrifice embody the true spirit of patriotism and selflessness. Over his time served, he has accomplished many trainings and deployments. He will be remembered for all his hard work and determination.
Stephen was highly decorated and had received numerous medals, awards, citations and certificates.

Stephen was known for being kind-hearted, compassionate, loving, generous, selfless, always willing to help others, and his kindness and sense of humor left a profound impact on everyone he encountered. He will be remembered for all his achievements, hard work, and memorable moments. From a young age, Steve had many hobbies, but was drawn to the thrill of motorcycles and cars and the roar of powerful engines. His love for motorcycles and cars wasn't just a hobby, it was a way of life. His love for these machines wasn't just about the metal and rubber; it was a reflection of their spirit, adventurous, daring, and filled with a zest for life, and will be missed tremendously.

Stephen is survived by his beloved Children, Son Stephen Smith and his wife Denise Smith and Daughter Nicole Smith and his grand daughter Everly, siblings Warren and Alison Smith, Michele and Norman Paquette, Brian and Doreen Smith, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by parents Warren and Helen Smith.

Stephen will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of those he touched. May he rest in peace, knowing his legacy of honor and service will continue to inspire future generations.
