The 2024 Whitehurst/Whiteurst family reunion general planning committee is very pleased to announce some details of our 2024 reunion! We have noticed that our family has grown in size. So, this is our attempt to get everyone together, share our history, and create new memories.
We are descendants of the Whitehursts from Macon, Georgia dating back to the 1850s.
Our general planning committee is honored to plan and host our family reunion and hope this will be an annual or bi-annual event. A good deal of effort has gone into the start of the planning process, but we need more assistance. We are requesting that anyone interested in the planning of the reunion email Melinda ([email protected]). This commitment will require the following:
—Attend a weekly Zoom call every Sunday evening at 6:00 pm CST for 30 minutes. You'll find the Zoom link in the Contact Info section at the bottom of this page. Once all committees are formed, this meeting will be an hour and less frequent. To make this work, we ask that you be fully available with camera on and at home or in a space where you are not moving. This will allow us to also get to know each other.

—Be active, engaged, and an advocate for the reunion.

Event Pre-Funding
As with any event of this type, the hotel requires a deposit to firmly reserve the room and staff needed to put on the banquet. The bus company also requires a deposit to reserve the date and time we would allocate for their services. To this end, we are asking each person planning to attend the event to Zelle $155 to the Finance committee member who has set up an account at the bank for doing reunion "money things." You should Zelle the funds through your banking site to "Recipient" Dehlia Hatten at [email protected] or 815-715-5292. Following is an itemization of the use of these funds:
—One adult (older than 11) attending banquet. Each child age 3 to 11 requires additional $37; more on that later.
—One adult t-shirt. More info coming later on purchasing additional t-shirts (adult and/or child).
You will be on your own for flight or car rental arrangements.

Family Banquet Dinner
A special committee is working on the details for what is sure to be a great time for the current family to get to know about family members from out past. More details will be published here when they become available. You will not want to miss this. Opportunities for group photos will be numerous. And you will want to collect contact information from those in attendance.

Fun and Games with Prizes for Winners?
We know you will love this. At this writing, we have committee members planning to include fun activities for our picnic and banquet. Don't tell anybody, but I heard that there may be prizes in the offering for the winners. I think I heard the word "karaoke" mentioned. Better tune up those vocal cords just in case. More details to come later. Keep your eyes on this spot for new stuff.
