WHAT IS THE HARVEST MOON FESTIVAL?
The 2024 Harvest Moon Festival aims to showcase and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of the AAPI community, with a specific focus on the cultures of East, South, and Southeast Asian countries! This festival will feature a variety of cultural performances (such as cultural dance, musical acts, and martial arts), interactive workshops, exhibitions, and culinary experiences!

APAPA Rochester firmly believes that cultural events like this will not only strengthen the fabric of our community but will also contribute to the overall vibrancy and inclusiveness of our city! Our hope is that this event will provide an opportunity for AAPI residents, groups, and businesses of Rochester to reconnect with their cultural roots and also offer educational and enjoyable experiences for attendees of all ages and backgrounds!

Rochester Korean Percussion Ensemble
Established in 2022 in Rochester, the Rochester Korea Percussion Ensemble is dedicated to performing and educating the community about the rich traditions of Korean percussion music. Specializing in the Janggu, the iconic Korean hourglass drum, the ensemble brings the vibrant rhythms and cultural heritage of Korea to life.
Namrata Nagar
Namrata is a bilingual writer and a performing artist since grade 3. After completing my two post-graduations and a decade of corporate work, I am back to schools to tell Generation Alpha rich and relevant stories via children's story books, yoga practices, dance workshops, mythology, and Hindi literary pieces. In her performance, Namrata will enact Princess Draupadi's story from the Indian epic poem Mahabharat in a musical format.
Amanda Chow
Amanda Chow is a recent graduate from the U of R's medical school and is a current resident physician at Strong Memorial Hospital. Long before she found medicine, she grew up surrounded by music; her parents are Juilliard-trained classical concert pianists. She will share live performances of her original music, completely written, produced, and recorded by herself in between clinical rotations; as well as some covers of songs in Mandarin Chinese.
Chinese Music Ensemble of Rochester
The Chinese Music Ensemble of Rochester was founded in 2014 by a group of traditional Chinese Music performers residing in the Great Rochester Area. Consisting of professional musicians, music instructors, performers and students, the ensemble aims to promote Chinese Music and inculcate the love of Chinese culture and arts through performances, workshops and community events in the region.
Agape Black Belt Center
Agape Black Belt Center brings the art of Taekwondo to life with an exhilarating demonstration of skill, discipline, and power. Their performance showcases the precision and dedication of martial artists, blending tradition with high-energy moves that will leave you inspired. Don’t miss this dynamic display of talent!
Mountain, River, Traveler
Mountain, River, Traveler is an exciting new group from Rochester. The group features Leah Ou on Pipa, a traditional Chinese stringed instrument. Drawing from Chinese folk and classical idioms, Mountain, River, Traveler’s sound can best be described as “supercharged Chinese folk”. Members of Mountain, River, Traveler are Xuhao (lead vocals, guitar, and zhongruan), Leah Ou (pipa, and zhongruan), Lochlan Boebel (bass), and Randy Rowe (drums).
Filipino American Association of Rochester
Singkil, an ethnic folk dance of the Philippines that originated in Maranao people, a Mindanao Muslim ethnolinguistic group. Singkil is said to be a dance of Muslim royalty. To the rhythmic clapping of bamboo poles, the ladies dressed in elegant Muslim costumes wave great big fans. The dancers wearing solemn faces and maintains a dignified pose begin dancing at a slow pace which soon progresses to a faster tempo.
CDCPS Lion Dance  
We are St. Jude's Church Vietnamese Catholic Community Youth Group with the extension of Lion Dance Team. Comprised of passionate youth members, our team is dedicated to preserving and sharing the art of lion dance within the rich tapestry of Vietnamese culture and other similar cultures within the Lunar New Year. Through synchronized movements and vibrant performances, we bring the lion to life, symbolizing prosperity, good luck, and warding off evil spirits.
Chinese School of Rochester
Chinese School of Rochester students showcase ethnic culture through dance and music.
Phoenix Dance Studio
Phoenix Dance Studio was formed in 2008 comprises dancers at all levels specializing in traditional Chinese dance.
ISAIAH
Isaiah Franchuk, aka Isaiah, is a Rochester singer-songwriter and producer. He will be performing with a full band for this event.
Bryan Wang
Bryan Wang is a singer-songwriter (and frequent zone-outer) from Pittsford, NY. His songs are dynamically intimate, taking influence from artists like Passenger, Damien Rice, and Ed Sheeran.
Sagnna DS
Bharatanatyam (classical Indian dance) will be performed to a medley of "Swalla" and "Shape of You."

APAPA stands for Asian Pacific Islander American Public Affairs and is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting civic participation, mentorship, and leadership development among the AAPI population while also fostering cross-cultural understanding and appreciation among all community members.
