The Intersection of Human Trafficking and Healthcare
This first session will foster a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding human trafficking. This training seeks to empower individuals and organizations to play a proactive role in prevention, advocacy, and support for victims.

Recommending Safe Home Care Options in an Unsupervised Market
This second session aims to examine the challenges of ensuring quality and safety in homecare services. With home care regulatory oversight being limited or absent, safe options will be explored.

Speakers
Tejal S. Patel, Esq., CPHRM 
is a licensed legal professional & broker with 19+ years of experience managing sophisticated healthcare clients throughout CA. She received her degrees from University of California Riverside (2003) and CA Western School of Law in San Diego (2006). She received her license to practice Law in 2007. She is also a Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management. Presently, she is an Associate Risk Management Counsel for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA.

Jordan Hellman, J.D., N.R.P.F. 
serves as the Chief Development Officer for Care Partners, where he leads strategic growth, referral development, and partnership expansion across Southern California’s health and home-based care landscape. An experienced executive, attorney, and consultant, Jordan has spent his career building high-performing teams and scaling organizations across healthcare, sales, and recruiting.
Before joining Care Partners, Jordan played a key leadership role in the Inc. 500–recognized 123 Home Care (#294 in 2018), where he helped drive substantial revenue growth, develop effective sales structures, and support the expansion of innovative care models. Licensed as an attorney in California, New York, and New Jersey, he brings a unique blend of legal, operational, and business development expertise to his work with health systems, managed care plans, and community providers.
A San Clemente native, Jordan lives locally with his wife, two daughters, and two boxers.
Course Objectives:
  1. Define human trafficking, including ethical and legal responsibilities for case managers and describe how to identify victimization.
  2. Apply case examples to demonstrate how to respond with a trauma-informed approach.
  3. Describe actionable strategies for fostering safer homecare environment in unregulated settings.
  4. Understand the process of vetting caregivers and the challenges of ensuring quality and safety in homecare services.
