2026 Fayette County Youth Real Estate Discovery Day & Resource Fair
Join us on March 21
Youth Real Estate Discovery Day is a one-day, hands-on learning experience designed to introduce youth ages 13–24, and their families, to real estate as a career path and wealth-building tool. From exploring professional roles to learning about credit, budgeting, and homeownership, participants will leave empowered to start their journey toward economic mobility and generational wealth.

What to Expect
• Career exposure to real estate professionals across lending, title, development, sales, and more
• Age-appropriate content led by experienced facilitators
• Family home ownership resources!
• Access to on-site mortgage lenders for 1-on-1 pre-qualification sessions
• Lunch, giveaways, and a certificate of participation

Welcome & Overview
Kick off Real Estate Discovery Day with opening remarks from Fayette County Citizens for Progress and Alliance for Housing Progress. Participants will receive an overview of the day, understand the purpose of the event, and learn how the home buying process connects to wealth-building, financial preparation, and career opportunity.
10:15 am - 10:30 am
The Real Estate Transaction
Before meeting our career professionals, the Young Realtist Division will provide a broad look at the real estate transaction from start to finish. This overview introduces the key phases of a home purchase and explains how multiple professionals work together to move a transaction from preparation to closing. Participants will gain a foundational understanding of the process so they can better understand the specific roles shared by our industry experts throughout the day.

Real Estate Careers: Inside the Transaction
Young Realtist Division
Experienced real estate professionals will share insights into their specific roles within the real estate transaction and explain how they entered the industry. Presenters will discuss what they do daily, how their work impacts buyers and sellers, the skills required to succeed, and the various career pathways available in real estate , from sales and lending to inspections, insurance, development, and closing services.

Participants will leave with a clearer understanding of the many career opportunities within the real estate industry and practical steps they can take to begin preparing now.
12:15 pm - 12:45 pm
Lunch Break + Resource Fair
Enjoy lunch and music while connecting with local vendors and community resource partners. Parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to use this time to visit vendor tables, ask questions, and learn about available programs, financial education resources, and housing support services.
This is an opportunity to build connections, gather information, and take the next step toward homeownership or a real estate career.
12:45 pm - 1:30 pm
The Real Estate Transaction: Interactive Game
Participants organize the steps of the home buying process and work through realistic setback scenarios that can impact closing. This hands-on experience encourages critical thinking about preparation, credit, financial decision-making, and teamwork.
1:30 pm – 1:45 PM
Open Conversation + Recap
Group discussion reflecting on lessons learned, surprises in the transaction process, and key takeaways about preparation and opportunity.
1:45 PM – 2:00 PM
Closing Remarks + Vendor Breakdown
Final remarks and next steps. Vendors begin breakdown at program conclusion.
