January 13-14 Winter Conference Training: Indian Housing Law with Dave Heisterkamp

Join NWIHA at our January Winter Conference for two days of practical Indian Housing Law training led by Dave Heisterkamp of Wagenlander & Heisterkamp LLC.

The training will explore the Native American Housing Assistance and Self-Determination Act (NAHASDA), its implementing regulations at 24 CFR Part 1000, federal grant requirements under 2 CFR Part 200, and HUD notices and Office of Native American Programs guidance. Participants will examine how these requirements relate to Tribal laws, housing policies, and the daily operations of Tribal housing programs.

Topics include eligible families and activities, housing plans and reporting, rents, leases, collections and evictions, procurement, Indian preference, and homeownership. Group exercises, discussion, and question-and-answer sessions will help housing staff, commissioners, and Tribal leaders apply the material to their work.

We look forward to your participation.
