Press Relations and Social Media Workshop.
Join us on November 14
Occasionally, I get involved in discussions about press relations, how to prepare and put out a press release that can get you attention, or how to handle on-camera interviews during an event.
Some people knew a lot about press relations, while others didn't. A lot of contradictory word-of-mouth circulated. But everyone agreed that we needed a closer relationship with our local newsmen and newswomen. Aside from that, many people expressed confusion and a little trepidation about preparing a Press Release, who to send it to, or even how to conduct themselves during an on-camera interview.
Long-time Syracuse Newsman and friend to veterans, Mr. Dan Cummings, was contacted and asked to help us present during this workshop, and he enthusiastically agreed.
The Workshop will be held on Saturday, November 14th, 2026, at Eastwood Legion Post 1276, located at 3701 James Street, Syracuse, NY. Doors will open at 8:00 am for registration, and Mr. Cummings will begin to speak around 9:00 am. He will have time for questions and answers. Lunch (complimentary from the Onondaga County American Legion) will be served.
I hope to have an afternoon session discussing the various forms of social media and how we can use them better to attract attention to ourselves. Parking is available but limited, so we are limiting our class to 60 people. RSVP is required.
