our story...
The Lone Oak Rodeo was started from the collaborative efforts of three families: the Haldersons, the Hartwigs, and the McNutts. In 2020, Roger and Emily Halderson's where introduced to the world of rodeo when their youngest son decided to ride a steer across their pasture. This pivotal moment sparked an idea within the Haldersons, leading them to immerse themselves in the dynamic rodeo lifestyle and establish Flying H Buckers.

Similarly, Nick and Jen Hartwig's journey began in 2021 at the Waconia rodeo, where their daughter's first bull ride ignited a deep love for the sport. Inspired by their daughter's enthusiasm, the Hartwigs were determined to create a local platform for rodeo enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, Kelsi and Nick, brought together by their work at the City of Chaska, shared a common love of the sport.  Kelsi's expertise in marketing and design complemented her husband John's legal acumen, contributing to the cohesive teamwork of the three families.

Their diverse backgrounds and skills converged to establish Lone Oak Rodeo, transforming a vision into reality through dedication and collaboration. More than just events, Lone Oak Rodeo became a community, embodying the enduring spirit of rodeo.
THE HARTWIGS
As a family that’s always chasing... be it bucks, barrels, or bales - rodeo just fits. Since our daughter’s first bull ride at Waconia Rodeo, another chase was on across 3 states looking for 8 seconds.  Along the way we have come across so many great people chasing that same dream. People that all love what rodeo encompasses: faith, family, and fun. With that, we made the decision to build a rodeo arena at our farm in Central Minnesota. We'd like to welcome you to come and witness the blood, sweat and tears of rough stock rodeo athletes as they chase their dream of an 8 second ride.
THE HALDERSONS
Our bull riding career started in 2020 with our youngest riding a steer across the pasture. Lots of T posts and barbed wire fences and we decided we needed a safer route. Fast forward 2 years, we now own our own stock of bucking bulls and have decided to put our efforts into growing the sport for our youth. We have 3 boys who all love some aspect of rodeo. Our oldest and youngest have been riding for 2+ years.  Our middle son decided early on that he prefers stock contracting and owns 6 bulls of his own. Our hope is to continue this dream for our kids and the future of kids rodeo.
THE MCNUTTS
John and I are originally from Colorado and have a love for the outdoors. We enjoy the satisfaction and rush we feel skiing down mountains in the winter and hiking up them in the summer. I grew up helping on my family owned and operated Wilkes 6-D Angus Cattle Ranch in Hawk Springs, Wyoming. This is where I started riding horses, working cattle, and grew to appreciate livestock and the hard work it takes to handle them. As rodeo fans and a couple who both have a bit of an adrenaline junkie mentality, we couldn’t be more excited to help keep the tradition of rodeo alive in our new home of Minnesota.
