Officer Women Leadership Symposium (OWLS)

Power of Connection: This event theme emphasizes the profound impact that relationships have on personal growth, resilience, and collective strength. This symposium explores how strong connections to – self, a community of warriors, and the world – provide insights and skills necessary to lead for impact.

Open to military and veteran women officers, officers-in-training, senior enlisted women (E6+), and government leaders (GS 12+) are encouraged to attend.

2 April, 2025 9:00-5:00pm: Career Workshop – Professional development workshops, opportunities to network with top-caliber, military friendly employers and resources that assist military women in advancing their career goals and/or making successful career transitions after their military service.

2 April, 2025 5:00-6:30pm: Evening Reception (Career Workshop and OWLS attendees are invited to attend.)

3 April, 2025 9:00-5:00pm: OWLS – Keynotes, panel discussions, and inspiring speakers in an event that brings together fellow women military and veteran leaders, experts, innovators, and thought leaders from all services.

9:00a - 9:05a EST	OWLS EVENT OPENING AND OVERVIEW The Officer Women Leadership Symposium (OWLS) offers participants the opportunity to hear from powerful and motivational speakers, acquire new leadership skills, gain insights, mentor and be mentored, while developing personal and professional networks.
9:05 - 10:20a EST	CONNECT WITH HEROES Keynote Panel Meet successful leaders who share insights about ways to motivate teams and organizations with inspiration and vision for today’s challenges.

10:30a - 11:40a EST	CONNECT AND ACHIEVE Panel Discussion You want to make a difference? You see ways to better contribute your talent? You see a way to make life better for your fellow service woman? Hear from leaders who are working to make a positive impact by leveraging their skills in unique ways.

11:50 - 12:50	CONNECT TO COMMUNICATE Workshop Do you ever notice people may listen to you, but not hear you? Learn best practices on ways to match your communication intentions with the message you want people to hear in order to create the impact you want.
12:50p - 1:50p EST	LUNCH and ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSIONS In-person participants will join a table topic discussion of choice. Virtual attendees will have a break for lunch.
1:50p - 2:50p EST	CONNECT WITH SELF Workshop: Unlock Your Potential Through Humor In this session, learn tips to leverage humor to elevate your mindset, boost resilience, and achieve success.

3:00 - 4:10	CONNECT TO DEVELOP LEADERSHIP TOOLS Panel Discussion Conflict in the workplace is unavoidable. The key question is how to best handle difficult relationships as a leader. This panel discusses common challenges and shares helpful behaviors to identify and manage issues before they escalate to dysfunctional levels and impact the mission.

4:20p - 5:30p EST	CONNECT WITH HerSTORY Panel Discussion Why do people gravitate towards certain leaders when they talk? Why do we get emotional when we see certain messages or hear from charismatic leaders? The answer to these questions lies in the power of story.
