ABOUT AEQUALITAS CONTENT CREATORS ASSOCIATION CONFERENCE

WHO WE ARE:

The ACCA is the ultimate gathering place for anyone interested in or involved with the LGBTQ+ content creation industry. The annual conference is an event for all LGBTQ+ media! This event is unique in that it strives to bring together publishers, editors, freelance writers, bloggers, influencers, advertising agencies, streaming services, and anyone else who works with LGBTQ+ content. We have an exciting conference program taking shape for you in the welcoming city of Cedar Rapids. Cedar Rapids is in the heart of Iowa's Creative Corridor, the home of two local Pride Festivals. And yes, there is an LGBTQ+ bar in Cedar Rapids — and a second one 25 minutes away in Iowa City.

THE ACCA'S MISSION:

For the past year the ACCA has been aiming to bring together active and aspiring LGBTQ+ content creators, publishers, editors and media professionals to grow and strengthen the LGBTQ+ content creation community and industry as a whole. To do this the inaugural ACCA will offer educational, informative and inspirational speakers encouraging attendees to think BIG!

With LGBTQ+ content creators and media professionals leading the way in innovative thinking and trends, it's important we stay on top of the changes in the content space. We are excited to continue to grow the mission of the Aequalitas Content Creators Association — with you.

WHO IS IT FOR:

We've taken special care to format the conference in a way that allows two full days of panels, sessions and activities specifically designed for those creating content — starting with the welcome reception!

ACTIVE & ASPIRING:

The ACCA Conference will feature speakers that will talk about the ins and outs of content creation, new technologies and industry trends. If you want to learn the best way to craft a story, we have you covered! If you are experienced, we know even the best content creators recognize things they need to improve on, and we're bringing the best content creators and industry pros to help you take things up a notch!

INDUSTRY PROS:
We are so excited to feature a diverse selection of speakers and panels sharing their expertise, analysis, and predictions for future content trends. This is going to be one of the most exciting focuses of the conference and you'll want to be there for it!

Our program includes some of the top movers and shakers in LGBTQ+ media today, and some of the brightest emerging voices, too. This is an unprecedented opportunity to network with your peers, learn something new, and have some fun at the same time.

THE VENUE:

The AAA 4-Diamond rated Hotel at Kirkwood Center is part of Kirkwood Community College where new chefs are trained for the hospitality program at the hotel. So it's no surprise the food is amazing!

The hotel has passed rigorous inspection protocols for their AAA 4-Diamond rating, and we will be operating the conference under the Linn County Public Health guidance. We will require all attendees to provide proof of vaccination to attend this event (prior to or at check-in).

COVID-19 POLICY AND PROCEDURES FOR 2022 CONFERENCE
Updated 8/14/2021

Updated: 08 /14/2021

It is the goal of the conference to provide as safe a space as possible for our conference attendees and staff. With the surge of the Delta variant, we are and will continue to consult Linn County Health Department and CDC guidelines for this event and our policies and procedures may change from time to time.

As the organizer and host, we have decided to error on the side of safety for our attendees. To that end we are making it mandatory that all attendees provide proof of being fully vaccinated at check-in (fully vaccinated per the CDC means all shot(s) administered at least ten days prior). We will ask all attendees when they check in not only to provide proof of vaccine but also if they have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms in the ten days leading up to the conference. A picture of your vaccine card will be adequate proof if it shows that you are “fully” vaccinated.

We would ask all attendees to stay home if they are sick. We will modify our refund policy for the conference fees if you are sick before the conference. We ask that all attendees and staff wash their hands often and avoid touching their faces during the conference. Signage will be placed outside the meeting room entrance and at each location of other conference events to remind attendees of these guidelines.
All Guests will be encouraged to wear masks while indoors, and masks will be mandatory for any off-site travel on busses. We encourage guests to wear masks while traveling in hotel shuttles. The latest guidance from the CDC for vaccinated people states: “To maximize protection from the Delta variant and prevent possibly spreading it to others, wear a mask indoors in public if you are in an area of substantial or high transmission”. Linn County is now an area of high transmission (a red area). The hotel has sanitation stations located throughout the hotel with disposable masks, hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes. The hotel since it is a state entity, cannot require their employees to be vaccinated, however they recommend it. Beginning Monday, 8/16 the hotel staff will be masked while indoors.

There is no need for attendees to quarantine when they arrive since they will have provided us proof of full vaccination. If a fully vaccinated guest has COVID-19 symptoms, then they will be asked to self-quarantine. Those symptoms would be:
  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

If you test positive for COVID before you travel to the conference but have no symptoms, you can be travel to the conference only after 10 days have passed since you had a positive viral test for COVID-19.  If you do have symptoms, then you can only attend the conference if you have quarantined for 10 days since symptoms first appeared and 24 hours with no fever without the use of fever-reducing medications and other symptoms of COVID-19 are improving.

We fully realize that the requirement for full vaccination to attend this conference may be in violation of Iowa House File 889, signed into law May 20, 2021, where a business or governmental entity shall not require a customer, patron, client, patient, or other person who is invited onto the premises of the business or governmental entity to furnish proof of having received a vaccination for COVID-19. The penalty is loss of state grants or contracts which will not affect our organization.  We feel that the safety of our attending guests takes priority.

The hotel venue has been accredited AAA 4-Diamond which includes a rigorous cleaning testing protocol, which they passed in 2021.
