The Alliance for Innovative Regulation (AIR), Orrick, and the American Fintech Council (AFC), invite you to join this Mini TechSprint taking place in Washington, DC, on November 20th!

Focus & Goals of the TechSprint
• Envision regulatory modernization for bank and fintech relationships, where business opportunity and consumer protection coexist.
• Create an opportunity for collaboration with diverse viewpoints coalescing around a challenging regulatory issue.
• Build a strong, connected community across the financial ecosystem.

Problem Statement
How might regulators gain more visibility into and thereby knowledge of fintech's technologies, business activities, banking relationships, risk profile and business continuity plans so that all parties can be informed and aligned?

What is a TechSprint?
Originally adapted from hackathon methodologies to meet the needs of government entities and financial regulators, TechSprints are intense problem-solving sessions that aim to facilitate innovation through a competitive team structure. TechSprints bring together diverse groups to work on specific challenges, often with the goal of producing a prototype or solution within a specified time frame. By enabling a collaborative approach to common goals amongst organizations, groups, and individuals which may not ordinarily work together in the normal course of business, TechSprints also provide opportunities for knowledge-sharing, learning, and networking both during the event and long after its conclusion.

FAQs
How are participants selected?
In advance of the TechSprint, teams will be formed by AFC, AIR, and Orrick to ensure each is comprised of participants with various skill sets and experience. Because of this, and due to the limited capacity, it may not be possible to accommodate all applicants for participation. Any applicant who is not selected to serve on a team will be invited to attend the event virtually for introductions and final presentations.

The criteria that will be used to select Participants include:
• Experience in a field related to the Problem Statement.
• Experience that supports the objective of having cross-functional expertise on teams.

How are teams formed?
Participants are placed on TechSprint teams as assigned by AFC, AIR, and Orrick, with no more than two individuals from any entity on the same team. Teams introduced 1-2 weeks before the TechSprint.

Are there prizes for winning selection?
No prize, cash or otherwise, will be awarded to teams. A summary of presentations will be published following the TechSprint (format TBD).
