2nd AIJC Alumni Reunion
Bermuda 2025
What an amazing week it was for our 2nd AIJC Reunion event . We had alumni flying into Bermuda from Canada and the USA for a week of golf and social events. 1982 AIJC winner, Murray McCrossin returned to the island for the first time in 43 years!  It was a time to renew old friendships and make new memories.

The week started with a fun round of golf at Turtle Hill (par 3 course) on Monday August 11th. Several alumni brought their families out for a great afternoon at the Southampton course. Thank you to Scott Roy, Director of Golf, for hosting us.

That evening we met with the rest of the alumni and families at the Reefs Hotel. We had a drinks reception, including a rum swizzle from Goslings, at Coconuts before heading on to the beach for a fabulous Beach BBQ. Phil Hidden gave a short speech welcoming the alumni back Bermuda for the 2nd Reunion Event. The evening ended with a special rum tasting from Goslings. An enjoyable evening was had by all.

Tuesday morning we played a team event (4 players, best two scores per hole) at Belmont Hills. The alumni participants gathered at the first tee to watch the opening tee shot played by Eve-Lyne Biron. The morning produced some outstanding golf with the team of Jon Ingham, Ken Siegfried, Carlo Laudadio and Michael Hidden taking the honours. See the full list of result below.

Wednesday morning play moved to the beautiful Mid Ocean Club. With a threat of rain, we teed off and got a few holes into the round when the horn sounded as a thunderstorm approached. A delay of just over an hour and then blue skies returned and the golf continued.
We played a 4 person Shamble with two scores counting per team and again the golf was outstanding. The team of Craig Christensen, Murray McCrossin, Frank Robinson and Michael Hidden won with a team score of 4 under par. The alumni are most grateful to our alumni Mid Ocean members, Jon Ingham and Geoff Blee, for organizing the round at MOC. It was a special day.

The final round, on Thursday, was played at Port Royal Golf Club, home of the Bermuda Championship a PGA event. The day consisted of a Stableford International Team event, plus men's and ladies individual competition. Team Bermuda proved to be too good, as they won the event for the second time. Congratulations to the team of Craig Christensen, Jon Ingham, Geoff Blee and Chris Silvester. Eve-Lyne Biron also won back to back titles in the Ladies division. Jon Ingham came very close to repeating his 2023 victory, but Craig Christensen won by a single point with some excellent golf.

The closing dinner and awards ceremony took place at the beautiful Royal Bermuda Yacht Club with the alumni joined by family and friends for a wonderful evening. Simon Roberts was our master of ceremonies and handed out the prizes with Christine Decarie.

It was another fabulous reunion event!!

Testimonials:

"I had the great privilege to be part of the AIJC tournaments 3 times as a teenager. The 2023 reunion was truly heartfelt and quite emotional as I got to see and meet the great friends that I had made back then. It made me feel 40 years younger all of a sudden!! We had such a wonderful time and I’m looking forward to the 2025 event." - Eve-Lyne Biron

"Playing in the AIJC in the 1980’s was a highlight of my junior golf. Fast forward four decades the reunion event in 2023 was amazing. Rekindling old friendships and making new ones while enjoying our favorite pastime, GOLF." - Karen Sherman-Lavin

“It was exciting to hear how much of an impact the AIJC had not only for Bermuda, but for the juniors who visited Bermuda to play in the event. To be able to keep in contact and nurture those friendships for many years afterwards proves the positive impacts of golf, not only for competitive fun sports but for the social dynamic as well. I look forward to seeing everyone again in 2025.” - Scott Roy

"I would say the AIJC Reunion was run with great expertise by folks who are in the golf business and really know what they are doing. I could tell right away that they put a lot of time and effort into everything. It was the perfect blend of fun golf with friends and well played golf if you are capable. If you wanted to be serious you could but you did not have to be intimidated if you don’t play that much anymore. Great events, food and parties with old friends is what this is about. It was like stepping into a 1980’s time machine with old friends where we picked up right where we left off. However, we also made new friends who may have been there at a different time frame back in the day. I plan on making as many of these as possible in the future. It was also great to see kids and family included in everything as well, including the golf." - Ken Siegfried
