ATL, get ready to support Black Maternal Health! 

Join the City of Atlanta Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services (OCS), BMMA, Inc. (Black Mamas Matter Alliance),
and 4Kira4Moms, Inc. for the 2025 ATL Black Maternal Health Walk & Block Party on Saturday, April 12th at the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation & Aquatic Center and Selena S. Butler Park! 

Taking place during BMMA's annual Black Maternal Health Week (#BMHW25) campaign, the 2025 ATL Black Maternal Health Walk & Block Party promises a fun-filled day of family-friendly activities, delicious food, live entertainment, vendors and more.  Attendees will have the chance to connect with doulas, medical professionals and midwives, and access essential health and wellness information and resources. 

As long-time partners in the Black Maternal Health movement, BMMA and 4Kira4Moms are excited to embark yet again with the City of Atlanta on this special celebration of Black Mamas and families under the themes of "Healing Legacies" and "Black Birthing Joy."

Rain or Shine:
EVERY attendee aged 2 and older must register. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Registration will be available on-site until capacity has been reached. Unregistered people will not be permitted into the event area.

Wearing a mask, hand washing, and social distancing is encouraged. Attendees will have access to restrooms located in the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation & Aquatic Center, adjacent to the park. BMMA and 4Kira4Moms will wipe communal surfaces and provide hand sanitizer to attendees.

This event IS rain or shine. We will have tents onsite but please bring a poncho or umbrella if the forecast calls for rain. In the event of rain, the Block Party will be moved inside the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation & Aquatic Center, adjacent to the park. The Black Maternal Health Walk will take place as originally planned.

Extremely limited free street parking is available near the park. There are also paid parking lots in the area. Our event space is easily accessed via MARTA at the Martin Luther King Jr./ Memorial Train Station. We highly encourage public transportation, rideshare, and carpooling.

You are welcome to bring items such as lawn chairs, strollers, yoga mats, towels, sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses. Water will be provided on-site, but you may bring your own personal water bottle as well.



Please refrain from bringing the following: pets, glass containers, weapons, tents, grills, and alcoholic beverages. Please note that service animals are permitted.

Our outdoor event space will be adjacent to the MLK Recreation Center at Selena S. Butler Park. Pedestrians are asked to enter at our main entrance on Hilliard Street.

The Black Maternal Health Walk and Block Party is easily accessed via MARTA at the Martin Luther King Jr./ Memorial Train Station.

Due to extremely limited free street parking, we encourage attendees to use public transportation, carpooling, or ride share options. For the most up to date public transportation information, please visit: ItsMarta.com

Accessibility: The Walk route is 2.1 miles and will take place on paved roads. There is a steep uphill incline that is about half a mile. This portion of the walk route may be strenuous or inaccessible for some people with physical disabilities or those who are not accustomed to vigorous physical activity. There will be a movement activity at Selena S. Butler Park provided for those who do not wish to participate in the Walk. The Park is accessible to wheelchairs, strollers, and other assistive devices but please note that much of the main space is grassy. There will be limited seating available.  Attendees should expect crowds of people and loud noise.
