BCHG Peony/Xue Day
Sunday, May 10, 2026 - Registration Closed
Join us in the Bristol Chinese Herb Garden for a full-day CPD seminar dedicated to xuè 血, timed to coincide with the flowering of the Garden’s exceptional peony collection. The day begins with an introduction to Paeonia lactiflora, Paeonia suffructicosa and Paeonia anomala subsp. veitchii — major herbs used to tonify, cool and move the blood. The genetics and ethnnopharmacology of peony species in the garden and our dispensary.
This immersive event offers the rare chance to deepen your classical understanding of xuè and its relationship with qì, while surrounded by living medicinal plants that illustrate these principles vividly. With guided tours, thoughtful teaching and practical clinical insight, the day invites practitioners to reconnect with the botanical origins of the materia medica and to reflect on how a richer grasp of xuè function can enhance diagnostic clarity and treatment confidence. Set within the peaceful grounds of the University of Bristol Botanic Garden, the seminar also provides gentle space for exploration, conversation and professional connection.
We're delighted to welcome speakers Mazin Al-Khafaji, Tony Harrison and Conny Cooper.
