OVERVIEW
BEAM Circular is building a vibrant regional ecosystem for the circular bioeconomy in California’s agricultural heartland, the North San Joaquin Valley (NSJV). BEAM is facilitating collaboration and catalyzing action through the BioEconomy, Agriculture, and Manufacturing (BEAM) Initiative, a portfolio of public and private projects designed to scale the most promising innovations in bioindustrial manufacturing and to advance solutions that support economic and environmental outcomes for local communities.

As part of BEAM’s mission, BEAM is dedicated to empowering businesses in the NSJV by helping them secure research and commercialization funding, such as Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants and similar grants.

The Research and Commercialization Grant Assistance Program (RC-GAP) offers up to $5,000 to bioeconomy businesses applying to research and commercialization grants. These funds can be used for services such as expert grant writing, comprehensive proposal review, technical assistance, and business planning, all aimed at streamlining the application process and boosting their chances of success.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be a for-profit entity and must be primarily U.S. owned. This is defined as having at least 51% of its ownership by U.S. citizens and/or permanent residents.
  • Must be headquartered or have at least 51% of its operations in the North San Joaquin Valley (NSJV) .
  • Must be registered to do business in California.
  • Must have fewer than 500 employees.
  • Must meet all eligibility criteria for the grant they are applying for.
  • The grant proposal must support research and commercialization and the proposed project should advance solutions that support economic and environmental outcomes for local communities.
TIMELINE
Application Period: September 13, 2024, to November 30, 2024.
Application Review: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis. Applicants can expect to hear back within 7 business days of submission.
Application Timing: To receive the best outcomes from service providers, please apply in accordance to the due dates on page 3 of the full solicitation.
