We live in a community that values bicycling as a means of transportation, recreation and exercise. There are hundreds of children in our region who would like to participate, but are unable to do so with traditional cycles. This is a need that increases each day as more children are diagnosed with disabilities.
NorCal Trykers, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, is a chapter of National AMBUCS, Inc. and was created for the sole purpose of providing, at no cost, customized therapeutic AMTRYKE tricycles to children with disabilities. Our mission is to provide mobility, exercise, confidence, and a sense of normalcy to the lives of these children in the Sacramento Valley area of Northern California.
Over 1,200 companies and individuals have made significant donations for the purchase of trykes for kids, which cost an average of $1,000 each.
There are no paid staff, the organization is run entirely by volunteers. Administrative costs are kept very low so that
approximately 95% of donations go toward the purchase of tricyles. For more information about NorCal Trykers please go to our website at
https://www.NorCalTrykers.comSince inception in 2017, NorCal Trykers has donated over 300 AMTRYKE tricycles. Most children receive new AMTRYKE tricycles, and when they outgrow them, NorCal Trykers will provide the next size up to them. When a tryke is returned to us, we "ReCycle" it to practically new, then provide it to another recipient. A single tryke may serve multiple children.
