 Join us for the Beverly/Morgan Park Juneteenth Family Festival and Black business Crawl! This educational and celebratory event will include storytelling, drumming circles, African-based art, culture, food, music and numerous kid activities. Black businesses will be promoting their goods and services on-site and this event is free to the public. All families are welcome!

Put on your workout clothes and come and join Morgan from the LAB  who will lead a vibrant hip-hop workout for anyone who wants to join at the park.

Bring the kids and join Taylor for a drumming lesson followed by the drumming circle.

Dancing is key in West African culture and it's performed for courtship, to celebrate, as a fertility ritual, for weddings and ceremonies, and rites of passage. Bring the kids to learn a new dance and have fun with us!

Did you know that Juneteenth is the oldest known holiday that commemorates the end of slavery in the US? It has also been celebrated under several names: Freedom Day, Jubilee Day, and Emancipation Day. Hear about the rich history of Juneteenth in this workshop with Prof. Robert Hanserd!

The roots of African-American dance run deep into the history of West Africa and have produced moves like 'the stick dance', 'Juba dance', 'the cakewalk', and 'set de flo''.  Put on your dancing shoes and let's have some fun!
