Prepare to be changed! In 5Rhythms dance, the body becomes your spiritual path and source of healing. Drawing from Gestalt therapy, eastern philosophy, and transpersonal psychology in 5Rhythms you explore your emotions, ego, relationship to self, others and the world through movement.
This will be a unique event as NYC's incredibly popular teacher, Nico Allen, is coming into town to lead us in a Saturday evening dance and Sunday full day workshop. Nico's BODYWERK™ has become one of the most beloved 5Rhythms classes in NYC.
You can come to either or both Saturday or/and Sunday. Saturday's dance will be a great way to experience the power of 5Rhythms. Sunday's workshop will go deeper, containing exercises, instruction, and dancing to better understand how to connect to, feel, and move through the 5 waves of energy that correlate to the 5Rhythms: Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness.
5Rhythms can be experienced by anyone. No prior dance, 5Rhythms experience, or minimum physical fitness is necessary. There are no specific moves to learn and dancers can participate at their own pace, within their own capacity to move.

About the Instructor: Nico Allen
Nico has devoted the last 8 years of his life to 5Rhythms and has led movement experiences across NYC and the US. His epic Brooklyn series BODYWERK™ redefines just how liberating and healing a dance floor can be.
He has coached and assisted with leading organizers and facilitators in the industry, including Tasha Blank, Amber Ryan, and Lucia Horan. And, as a somatic explorer and 1:1 practitioner, teacher, vocal artist, and trained actor, he brings many perspectives to walk with you as you unleash the power hidden in your cells.

Saturday's dance is a guided practice into the wave map of the 5Rhythms: Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical & Stillness. Dress to sweat, trust your bare feet and follow the choreography of your soul. We explore our soma with focused practice, then unleash the brilliant - vulgar - sexy - holy - surprising creativity that makes us.
Though you can participate in Saturday only, we've programmed with the intention you participate in both Saturday and Sunday. For those new to 5Rhythms, Saturday is an incredible introduction and may help you decide whether to attend the full-day workshop.

Waves Workshop
A Gabrielle Roth 5Rhythms Waves workshop is the foundation of the entire body of 5Rhythms work in which we expand our class work with a deepened physical expression and knowledge of the essential 5Rhythms and their polarities. This day is a deep and yet playful exploration of our bodies in waves of energy, patterns and rhythms.
