About the Event

You, and members of your team, are invited to attend the no cost, 2024 Symposium on Bridging the Gap – Partnerships to Address Homelessness, being hosted by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The symposium will take place on July 24-25, 2024, in Austin, Texas.

Across the US, people experiencing homelessness use bridge structures and highway rights-of-way as places of shelter. Their presence poses safety risks to themselves and others traveling on our roadways, often increasing the risk of vehicle/pedestrian crashes. To mitigate these impacts, FHWA and TxDOT have forged partnerships within the Austin, Texas area to offer a “bridge of hope” between public streets and stable housing for the unhoused population.

Please register and join us to learn more about how TxDOT has built strong community partnerships to help alleviate homeless citizen displacement. There will be various presentations, including case studies featuring the Hawaii DOT, and site visits to communities established for displaced and unhoused individuals.

COST
The Symposium is no cost to all attendees.

LUNCH
The TxDOT Austin District will be providing lunch for attendees who opt-in.

There will be a fee of $20 per meal/day if you opt-in to eat the lunch provided. You can opt-in for lunch at the time of registration.

If you opt-out of the provided lunch please bring your own or you are welcome to find travel accommodations to eat off-site at our many delicious Austin restaurants.
