Topically-minded songwriter/banjoist Mike Merenda and second-generation fiddler/songwriter Ruth Ungar Merenda front the vibrant band The Mammals and the heartfelt duo Mike + Ruthy. Through four presidencies, they have held up a folkified mirror to America(na). Their recordings and performances continue to express a hopeful vision commonly not associated with their generation (X). When The Mammals or Mike + Ruthy take the stage, prepare for lyrics that land, off-the-cuff anecdotes that connect the dots, and music with a backbone and a backbeat. In addition to their tour schedule Mike + Ruthy produce a semi-annual folk festival in the Hudson Valley called The Hoot.
