GeneralSession proposals are wanted that will provide attendees with knowledge and skills necessary to apply best practices in planning, design, and public engagement. Priority will be given to sessions that are engaging to the audience and provide a diversity of participants, new ideas, collaborative approaches, address current and relevant topics and issues.
Credit Maintenance (CM) RequirementCertified planners seek professional development opportunities that can be used for AICP Certification Maintenance (CM) credit. Session shall offer learning experience to planners, students, and other professionals interested in local or regional planning, community engagement, infrastructure, or regulatory processes.
Session Proposal CriteriaSession proposals will be reviewed on their:
·Creativity and strength: The Conference Committee is seeking new and exciting sessions that have not been presented at recent planning conferences.
·Completeness: Incomplete session proposals are unlikely to be selected. If you are proposing an interactive session, please be sure to include all the details.
·Diversity, quality, and relevant background of presenters: The Conference Committee seeks multidisciplinary sessions with presenters from multiple professions and/or organizations.
·Applicability of topic to all three states: Sessions should provide information and learning objectives that are relevant to a wide array of conference attendees. Sessions may be be limited to address relevant and timely local interests.
·Educational objectives: Sessions should be eligible for AICP CM credits. Sessions that meet the educational objectives of another professional certification program are encouraged.
·Session format: All session formats will be considered. Sessions with a high degree audience participation and engagement are prioritized.
Competitive ProcessThe conference program has a limited number of session opportunities that are awarded on a competitive basis. The program shall hold a balance of sessions across multiple aspects of planning including but not limited to equity, law, ethics, sustainability, resilience, community engagement, public participation, housing, conservation, the environment, zoning, transportation, municipal planning, regional planning, economic development, and any other relevant topic.
DeadlineThe deadline for submitting proposals has been extended to August 23rd, 2024 (11:59 EST). Late or incomplete proposals will not be accepted. The Committee asks that you submit session proposals online here. Questions can be emailed to
