KC Water’s Blue River Wastewater Treatment Plant is undergoing a makeover. Once reconstructed, the facility will be renamed the Blue River Biosolids Facility. It will be the first plant of its kind in the Midwest to employ a Thermal Hydrolysis Process (THP). KC Water used a fixed bid Design-Build Contract (DB) for the work. Mr. Herring will discuss the details of the project with an emphasis on the reasons for using a DB approach. The facility is expected to be in service the second half of 2024.

Steven Daniels | Environmental Services Coordinator - Trinity River CRWS

The Trinity River Authority of Texas (TRA) embarked on an estimated $150 million construction phase at the 162 MGD Central Regional Wastewater System (CRWS) facility in Dallas. This project included the addition of thermal hydrolysis and anaerobic digestion to the solids process, which improved stabilization of biosolids, creating and increasing methane gas production and capture while reducing the quantity of biosolids disposed by more than half. The facility is running at approximately 50% capacity as they continue to ramp up the digestion process
