Speakers
We are blessed to have two excellent speakers that will talk at different times during the reunion.
Frank Hood
NAVY SUBMARINE OFFICER AND AUTHOR
Frank Hood served as a JO on the USS Seahorse (SSN 669) in the late 60's to early 70's.  His story was captured in "Poopie Suits & Cowboy Boots" published in 2018.
After that book, he and his brother Charles, have co-authored 7 more books, each with true stories of our US Submarine Force.
Their website (www.subtales.com) and FB page (www.facebook.com/2hoodssubbook) contain the many hundreds of stories they have collected.
The Hood brothers have donated $52,000 to the USSVI Scholarship Fund from the proceeds of the books, and they just recently donated 2 of the books to every active boat in the fleet, so today's submariners can find out what it was like back in the day.
Dan Rossler
Retired Navy Captain
Dan recently retired after 40 years of active service as the Commander of the Submarine support group at Groton, CT.  But some of us know Dan as an Electrician Mate on the Cavalla in the 80s.
During his time in the Navy, Capt. Rossler was designated as a limited duty officer (LDO), an officer of the United States Navy who was selected for commissioning based on skill and expertise, with strong specific technical knowledge and seasoned leadership. And in Aug. 2019, he was awarded the “Silver Eagle” – an honor bestowed upon the senior-most LDO in the Navy. The “Silver Eagle” was created in 2002 in recognition of the dedicated careers of LDO personnel. As tradition holds, the senior-most LDO in the Navy assumes the mantle of “Silver Eagle” and maintains possession of a two-foot tall eagle statuette until that officer retires from active service and passes along the honor.
Captain Rossler’s personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards).
Memorial Service, and Tolling of The Bell Ceremony 2024
Join us in honoring our shipmates on eternal patrol at the Memorial Service on Saturday, October 6th held at USS Nautilus Park.  We will have a Tolling of the Bell ceremony in remembrance of our lost shipmates.

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather we should thank God that such men lived."
General George Patton
