The Outer Banks Conservationists and the keepers of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse invite you to celebrate the150th birthday of our beloved beacon. Whether you like to climb, preserve our coastal heritage, patrol our coasts, serve the public, support education, or are a donor, your participation in this historic milestone would add to its meaning.

Since its first lighting on December 1, 1875, the Currituck Beach Lighthouse has stood continuous watch over the Outer Banks. To honor this remarkable legacy, we’ve planned a weekend that recognizes both the lighthouse and the people who shaped its story.

We’re also going to have a great time together because you're only 150 once!

Friday, November 28, 2025

- Enjoy Corolla Village Christmas Market all day long.
- Christmas lights and food trucks in the village after sunset.
- Whalehead Christmas tours 5:30–6:30 PM. Reservations are required and go fast. See https://northernouterbanks.com/signature-event/christmas-in-corolla/

Saturday, November 29  

9:00 AM – 11:00 AM: Breakfast at the Keepers' House & nametag pickup.
12:00 PM - 1:30 PM Nature walk at the Currituck Banks Maritime Trail with a Corolla Wild Horse Fund guide.
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM: Guided Corolla Village tour (ends at the Wildlife Center).
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Augustin Fresnel one-man play at the Wildlife Center.
5:00 PM – 8:00 PM: Celebration back at the Keepers' house with lighthouse climbs, lens-room tours, charcuterie, drinks & live music. Enjoy another evening of Corolla Village Christmas Market lights and food trucks.

Sunday, November 30

9:00 AM: Light breakfast at Keepers' House.
11:00 AM: Augustin Fresnel one-man play performance at the Wildlife Center.
2:00 PM: Nature walk at the Currituck Banks Maritime Trail with a Corolla Wild Horse Fund guide.

Monday, December 1 – Birthday Ceremony

11:00 AM – 4:00 PM: Free climbs & lens room tour.
4:00 PM – 4:48 PM (sunset): Speeches, toasts, cake, and sparklers in the yard.

Your attendance will honor generations of dedication, dreaming, and hard work by: Lighthouse Keepers, conservationists, public servants, work crews, and friends of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. Come for all of it or pick & choose your days.
