CCO will be hosting the Fall 2023 Examination Management Committee (EMC) meetings followed by the CCO 55th Biannual Commissioners meeting in Crosby, TX from Monday, October 16th through Friday, October 20th.

EMC’s will be heavily focused on exam development activities. If you would like to participate in any of these meetings, most committees permit guest participation provided a signed and Statement of Confidentiality agreement is completed in-person on the day of the meeting. Guests will be briefed on the examination development process and will participate in item writing.

Some EMC meetings, or portions thereof, may be closed to guests due to the content or topic being discussed. During those times, guests will be asked to excuse themselves so the EMC may meet in closed session. Please note that the Written & Practical Exam Management Committee - Mobile Cranes Meeting only permits guests who are members of another EMC or the Commission.

The Commission meeting is open, and guests are encouraged to come see the rigor in which CCO manages it’s programs.

CCO is excited to announce the first tablet-based testing training for credentialed Practical Exam Proctors (PEP), to be held in conjunction with the 2023 Fall Commission meeting!

This in-person, hands-on training will be held October 19, 2023, from 8am – 12pm. This session will meet the training requirements for currently credentialed PEPs to begin administering exams via tablet when the new practical testing platform launches on January 2, 2024. Tablet-based practical testing will be the sole platform for practical exams after July 1, 2024.

The tablet-based testing training event will cover everything PEPs need to know for the new digital practical testing solution including:

• Role responsibilities
• New online processes for scheduling test administrations and adding candidates
• Completing required site, pre-test and equipment reports
• Accessing and utilizing score sheets
• Submitting score sheets and result reporting

The event is open to all currently credentialed PEPs in good standing. However, registration is required, and space Is limited. PEPs are encouraged to bring a tablet to make the most of the training.

This event will take place at the Courtyard Marriott Houston Northeast.
Can’t make this event? No problem. CCO will be announcing several additional in-person training events and a significant number of virtual training workshops to be conducted prior to the end of this year.

We once again expect to have a keynote from Scott Ketcham, Director of OSHA’s Directorate of Construction. Other expert speakers on safety, regulation, and certification will be announced soon.
