Bio: Richard Francart, founder of Five Opportunities, has spent decades helping organizations navigate change, from early office automation and networking to cybersecurity, cloud computing, automation, and artificial intelligence.
In his presentation, "From Typewriters to AI: Why We Still Don't Understand Work," Richard shares his personal journey through decades of transformation and the unexpected lesson that emerged along the way: organizations often add people, technology, and complexity before fully understanding the work itself.
That observation became the foundation for the Job Collapsing Intelligence Platform (JCIP), a work-first decision intelligence approach that reveals where work pressure exists, why it exists, and how it can be absorbed through automation and better system design.

As agents take on more repetitive tasks like alert triage, enrichment, reporting, and first-pass investigation, security teams will need people who can supervise automation, understand risk, question AI output, and connect technical findings to business impact. This session will explore how cybersecurity roles are evolving, what skills will matter most, and how professionals at every level can stay relevant as the work shifts from chasing alerts to driving outcomes.

Presentation Topic: Resilience by Design: Architecting Containment for AI-Speed Attacks
Modern adversarial campaigns increasingly exploit automation and machine learning to accelerate vulnerability discovery, stress-test attack paths, and adapt offensive tactics at machine speed. Static perimeter architectures and prevention-centric controls are structurally mismatched to this threat model — they assume bounded attacker behavior in an environment where attacker iteration is now continuous.
Microsegmentation addresses this asymmetry at the architectural level. By enforcing granular policy boundaries across workloads, endpoints, and lateral movement corridors, segmentation degrades attacker economics: propagation slows, blast radius contracts, and dwell time generates detection opportunity rather than compounding exposure.
This session examines the design principles behind adaptive containment architectures — specifically, how real-time telemetry, policy automation, and enforcement validation can be composed into a segmentation plane that responds dynamically to observed behavior rather than static rule sets. Key technical areas include lateral path enumeration, critical asset isolation, and the operational requirements for enforcement at scale across heterogeneous estates including legacy systems, cloud workloads, and OT environments.
The central engineering question is not whether a breach occurs, but whether critical systems remain operational through one. Resilience must be architected into the fabric of the enterprise — not bolted on after the fact.
This session will examine:
  • Why breach readiness and rapid containment strategies are becoming essential components of cyber resilience
  • The growing importance of IoT and OT segmentation in healthcare, manufacturing, maritime, hospitality, and critical infrastructure environments
  • The relationship between identity, visibility, and containment in modern segmentation strategies
  • Common pitfalls organizations encounter when attempting segmentation initiatives
  • Approaches for implementing segmentation without creating significant operational disruption


Bio: Alex is a cybersecurity leader with expertise aligning security priorities and frameworks to real business outcomes. He's solved these challenges for clients at Kaseya and Egnyte, with partners including NASA Huntsville and Aegis Sciences Corporation.
On the technical side, Alex brings offensive minded security experience that shapes how he thinks about defense and compliance. He's also a sales engineering leader with a track record of building and leading teams that produce and perform even when the path forward isn't clear.
Outside of work, Alex is an avid golfer, scuba diver, musician, reader, and board gamer.
