CLOWN - The Art of Play
2 Day Intensive Workshop with Gerry Flanagan
Discover what is special and stupid about yourself – by playing!

The Clown struggles to find a way through the world. Surprises, pitfalls, discoveries and dangers are everywhere. Playfulness quickly becomes not only useful but a guiding principle. Armed with this, the Clown discovers funny, tragic, even brutal ways of playing, first to survive and then to thrive and celebrate the stupidity and humanity that lies inside each of us. The playing is personal and above all else, relentlessly optimistic. To be relentlessly optimistic when faced by failure and the unknown is either heroic or completely stupid. The Clown is both!
"We do not stop playing because we grow old,
we grow old because we stop playing"
When we play, we are full of energy, alert and spontaneous. We look for playfulness in others and listen to creative impulses in ourselves. When playing we tend not to judge ourselves. There is a total belief and honesty.
