Operation Deploy Your Dress’s primary goal is to improve the quality of life of military families by offsetting the high cost of attending formal military functions, especially for junior servicemembers. ODYD currently “deploys” dresses from thirteen brick and mortar shops at installations around the world.

These shops are solely run by military spouse volunteers.

The heart and soul of this organization is the following three pillars:
1. Deploying America’s patriotism one dress at a time

2. Fostering community through volunteerism, while building concrete work experience for military spouses.

3. Upholding military tradition and cultivating camaraderie

ODYD assists in bridging the ever-growing gap between the military and civilian communities by offering a tangible way for the American public to show their appreciation for the service and sacrifice of our military servicemembers and their families.

FAQ's

Is our marriage license free if we successfully complete the 8-hour marriage training course?

Answer: The $60 state portion of the marriage license fee will be waived if you complete an approved premarital training course and present your certificate to the county clerk. Counties may add up to $22 in additional fees to a marriage license. Those local fees will not be waived.

If we complete the course, do we have to wait 72 hours before getting married?
The county clerk will waive the 72-hour waiting period for couples who present a certificate of completion proving they completed an 8-hour premarital training course.
Once we have completed the premarital training classes and get a certificate, how long is the certificate good for?
Answer: The certificate is good for one year and serves as proof that the couple is eligible for the discounted marriage license fee and can waive the 72-hour waiting period.

Can my spouse and I return and take more classes after we are married?

Answer: Yes....

I am currently taking a premarital course. Can I get a Twogether in Texas certificate?

Whether a couple chooses to acknowledge God or not in their ceremony is their choice, just as it is our choice to perform civil ceremonies as well as religious ceremonies.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
9 Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
10
If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up.
11
Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
12
Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
8 Love never fails.

We believe the institution of marriage is ordained of God.

As Christian’s we want to marry with Faith.

Why Christians should consider a Ordained Church Wedding
For the Christian, there is a richness associated with the wedding ceremony and the marriage that can only be fully understood, appreciated, and enjoyed within the context of the Body of Christ. Those of us who know Jesus as the coming Bridegroom have something to celebrate in marriage that non-believers can’t yet understand.
Under normal circumstances, then, we would assume that a Christian couple would be highly motivated to solemnize their union in the presence of God and His people. A Christian wedding in a Christian setting is a great opportunity for a man and a woman to confess their faith in Christ and seal their commitment to one another before the eyes of the watching world.
In the end, though, here are the two key points that answer your question:

  • There’s no reason to doubt that your marriage before a Justice of the Peace is valid in the eyes of God.
    • You can always reaffirm your vows in a specifically Christian wedding ceremony if you want to.

Please Read the Following Prior to Seeing Your Pre- Marital Counselor
The Benefits of Counseling

  • Heal and find resolutions to issues/ concerns that led you to seek therapy.
  • Develop a better ability to cope with family, marital, and other interpersonal relationships.
  • Gain a greater understanding of your personal goals and values.

  • You can always reaffirm your vows in a specifically Christian wedding ceremony if you want to.

The Risks of Counseling

To allow you to make informed decisions about your counseling, Covington-McGee  Christian Counseling wishes to make you aware of certain risks involved in counseling.

During sessions, you may experience discomfort and other emotions such as depression, anger, and frustration.

Resolving concerns between marital partners, family members, and other persons may also lead to discomfort and relationship changes that may not be originally intended.

God’s Knot Ceremony

The cord of three strands ceremony (often called "God's Knot" or the Unity Braid Ceremony) symbolizes the joining of one man, one woman, and God into a marriage relationship. It adds a truly unique element to your ceremony that friends and family will remember.
The cord of three strands ceremony is a great addition to a wedding ceremony.
Couples with strong spiritual beliefs may want to add this short ceremony toward the end of the wedding ceremony. Keeping God at the center of your wedding ceremony will also help you keep God at the center of your marriage.
Every time you think back on your wedding ceremony it will remind you of how God is intimately involved in your marriage. The Cord of Three Strands is a symbol of that sacred union created on your wedding day.
Marriage takes three; you, your soon to be spouse, and God. It was God who taught us to love. By keeping Him at the center of your marriage, His love will continue to bind you together as one throughout your marriage.

Gold Strand - Represents God
The divinity of God is represented in Gold. This covenant relationship is initiated by Him, will be built under His authority, and is intended to glorify Him.
Purple Strand - Represents the Groom
As a new creation in Christ, the majesty of the Groom is represented in purple. As the husband loves his wife and submits himself to the Lord, the Lord in turn will demonstrate His great love in the marriage relationship.

White Strand - Represents the Bride
Having been cleansed by salvation in Christ, the purity of the Bride is represented in white. As the wife honors her husband and submits herself to the Lord, the Lord in turn will nurture and strengthen the marriage relationship.

MAKE YOUR Marriage. Everything it is meant to be…
LAUNCH LIFELONG LOVE
Preparing for a strong and passionate marriage is one of the most important things you’ll ever do.

The SYMBIS Report is incredibly powerful and robust.

If your relationship is getting serious, it’s never too soon to begin the process of exploring your potential future together.

While the SYMBIS Assessment is primarily designed for engaged and newlywed couples, many married couples at various stages find the results to be extremely helpful.

The SYMBIS Assessment will generate a customized report, adding information specific to your circumstances. In fact, a section of your report will be dedicated to issues such as second marriages and blending a family.

The SYMBIS Assessment is not mandatory but it gives a good start on your marriage for years to come.

As soon as both of you complete the SYMBIS Assessment, Dr McGee will be notified and then contact you to schedule your sessions.

This is critical. Every aspect of this assessment is grounded in multiple studies to ensure that the tool is both reliable and valid.

It takes Approximately 30 minutes to complete.

To ensure accurate results each of you will need to complete the assessment on your own without discussing it.

This is optimal. You get better results if you don’t take breaks between questions. However, if you have to take a break and continue later, your progress is saved along the way.

GETTING MARRIED
Once a marriage license has been issued by the County Clerk’s office, it is valid for 90 days from the issue date and is valid in any other county in the state of Texas. (Texas family code 2.001)
Per Texas law, there is a 72-hour waiting period before the marriage ceremony may take place, except in the instances of the following exceptions:
  • If the applicants obtain a written waiver from a judge.
  • If one of the applicants is an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States; the active-duty military person must show identification.
  • If the applicants submit the premarital education course certificate from Twogether in Texas.
  • If applicants are remarrying each other.
Both parties must be present for the marriage ceremony, except in the instance where one party is a member of the armed forces of the United States stationed in another country in support of combat or another military operation and unable to attend the ceremony. Then an adult representative may be appointed to act as a proxy in the ceremony.
Officiants
The ceremony may be performed by the parties’ officiant of choice.
Name Changes
If a party wishes to change their name due to marriage, they may do so through the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Social Security Administration. However, the name on the marriage license will not change.

MARRIAGE LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
For full details on the requirements to receive a license, please review the requirements for a marriage license application in Bexar County document.

    • Informal Marriage License: $46.00
  • Applicants under 18 must present a certified copy of their court order "Removal of Disabilities of Minority" granted by the state of Texas or another state. (See Requirements for a Marriage License for full details.)

  • Additional requirements are listed in Requirements for a Marriage License.

APPLYING FOR A MARRIAGE LICENSE
Absent Applicant
If one party will absent when applying for a marriage license, the other party or an assigned adult representative may represent them when applying. Please review the instructions for an Affidavit of Absent Applicant and the Affidavit of Absent Applicant for Marriage License to be sure that all information has been completed correctly.
The County Clerk may not issue a marriage license for which both applicants are absent unless the person applying on behalf of each absent applicant provides to the clerk an affidavit of the applicant declaring that the applicant is a member of the armed forces of the United States stationed in another country in support of combat or another military operation. Military identification is also required for each applicant who is not present to obtain the marriage license.
Twogether in Texas
When a couple presents the Twogether in Texas Certificate, the 72-hour waiting period after being issued a marriage license and when the ceremony may occur is waived. The Twogether in Texas Certificate is valid for one year from the date the course was taken, and the couple is eligible for a discount of $60.00 from the marriage license fee.
Marriage License Application
Once all information has been gathered, the parties must fill out either the Marriage License online application or the Informal Marriage License online application as appropriate. The electronic copy will be submitted to the County Clerk’s office and is available for up to five (5) days after submission.
After the application has been submitted, the parties should present themselves at the County Clerk’s Marriage Office in the Paul Elizondo Tower at 101 W. Nueva, Suite 120 with all relevant documentation and the fee in cash. No other form of payment is accepted.

    • Informal Marriage License: $46.00

MARRIAGE LICENSE RECORDING
To record your marriage license after your marriage ceremony has been performed you can:
  • Come into our Bexar County Clerk’s Vital Statistics Department in person and record it.
  • You may also mail your original Marriage License to:
Bexar County Clerk’s Office: Vital Statistics 100 Dolorosa, Suite 104, San Antonio, Texas 78205
    • Your license will be recorded and mailed back to the address listed on the back of your marriage license.
Note that if you choose to change your name you may want to purchase 2 certified copies for $8 each.
MARRIAGE LICENSE COPIES
The Bexar County Clerk’s Office is able to provide copies of a marriage license and copies of a Declaration of Informal Marriage certificates if the documents were recorded in Bexar County. The Bexar County Clerk’s Office can provide a copy of a marriage license issued in Bexar County from 1837 to the present day.
Only licenses purchased in Bexar County are recorded by the Bexar County Clerk, regardless of where the ceremony occurs. To request a copy of a license purchased in another county, please contact that county’s County Clerk office.
Since marriage licenses are public records, anyone may request a copy of marriage license by completing a Marriage License Copy Request Form and submitting it to the County Clerk.
Declaration and Registration of Informal Marriage Certificate Copies
A Declaration and Registration of Informal Marriage certificate is not a public record, so only the two applicants listed on the Declaration and Registration of Informal Marriage certificate may receive a copy of the Declaration and Registration of Informal Marriage certificate.
Copies of a Declaration and Registration of Informal Marriage Certificate that was issued in Bexar County can be obtained by visiting the Bexar County Clerk’s Office located at 101 West Nueva, Suite B110.
