Our panelists will reflect on their journeys, the challenges they faced, and the victories that made it all worthwhile. Most importantly, they’ll demystify the role of an MP and offer inspiration to the next generation of women and gender-diverse leaders considering public office.

Meet The Panelists!
Charmaine Borg
Former NDP MP FOR 
TERREBONNE-BLAINVILLE
(Quebec)
 Charmaine Borg was the Member of Parliament for the riding of Terrebonne-Blainville from 2011-2015. During that time, she served as Digital Issues Critic for the Official Opposition. Following her time on the Hill, Charmaine practiced law in both the private and public sector. She is currently legal counsel for the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission.

Karen Vecchio is a community leader and the former Member of Parliament, for Elgin—Middlesex—London from 2015-2025.
Representing Elgin—Middlesex—London until 2025, Karen served as Shadow Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth, Shadow Minister for Families, Children and Social Development, Deputy House Leader for the Official Opposition, and Chair of the Standing Committee on the Status of Women.
Today, she continues to serve her community as a member of the Board of Directors for Hospice of Elgin and the Central Community Health Centre, while also guiding couples through their special day as a wedding officiant.


Pam Damoff
FORMER LPC MP FOR
Oakville North—Burlington (oNTARIO)

Pam Damoff has served in both municipal and federal politics. First elected to Oakville Town Council in 2010 and re-elected in 2014, she sat on the Public Library Board, Budget Committee, and Oakville Tourism Partnership, and was a vocal advocate for active transportation and improved cycling infrastructure. In 2015, she won the Liberal nomination for Oakville North—Burlington and represented the riding as the MP until 2025. During her time in Parliament, she was named Vice-Chair of the Standing Committee on the Status of Women and later served as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Indigenous Services. Today, she is the Chief Executive Officer of the Pearson Centre.

Roseleen Ladi

Roseleen Ladi is a Master’s student in Criminology and Sociolegal Studies at the University of Toronto, driven by a strong passion for equity, justice, and representation. She recently completed her BA in Criminology at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she deepened her interest in the criminal justice system and its impact on marginalized communities. Currently, she is a Research and Programs Intern at Equal Voice Canada, supporting efforts to advance the political representation of women and gender-diverse individuals. Guided by a commitment to creating inclusive spaces and amplifying underrepresented voices, Roseleen aspires to pursue a career in law and continue advocating for equitable access to justice.
