Dirty Dog – terms and conditions
 
Each person taking part in our Dirty Dog event on Saturday 22 July 2023 needs to agree to the following terms and conditions as part of their registration.
 

1. I have read and understand the information regarding this event and agree that I participate in this event at mine and my dogs own risk.
2. This event will include running and walking on uneven surfaces with rocks, roots, stream crossing, slippery surfaces and up and down steep terrain. I acknowledge that participation in this type of event carries an inherent risk of injury, illness and in extreme cases death.
3. I agree that I will not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the event.
4. My dog is fit, healthy, fully vaccinated and if female, will not be in season during this event.
5. My dog must be physically able to do the course. We reserve the right to exclude your dog from the course at any point if our veterinarian deems it necessary.
6. In an emergency, I agree to allow medical or veterinary staff to treat me or my dog as they see fit.
7. I am physically fit and have sufficiently trained for this event.
8. My dog will remain on lead at all times, any faeces will be picked up and disposed of appropriately, and I will abide by all requirements under the Dog Control Act 1996 and the Waikato District Dog Control Bylaw 2022.
9. I will obey all course markings and directions given by event staff.
10. I will not smoke or consume alcohol on site.
11. I hearby allow the use of mine and my dogs name and any images taken on the day to be used in the media and for marketing purposes.
12. I hearby agree that if I am unable to attend this event for any reason or in the case of cancelation due to extreme weather my entry fee shall be non-refundable.

 
I hearby acknowledge by this waiver that I release, and indemnify all persons, corporations, associations and bodies involved or otherwise engaged in promoting or staging the event and their servants, agents, representatives, officers and employees from all claims for losses, injury and/or damage arising from this event. This includes but is not limited to the various committees, members and employees of all independent contracted suppliers to the event, local councils, cities and districts and their respective officers, directors, employees, independent contractors, representatives, agents, volunteers, event organisers and sponsors, whether or not the loss, injury or damage is attributed to the act or neglect of any one or more of them.

Dirty Dog Challenge – frequently asked questions

1. Can more than one person take the dog around the course?

Yes, a maximum of 2 people with each dog. The primary person with the dog must be over the age of 16, and the second person must be over the age of 8.
The cost will be;
$60.00 1 dog 1 person &
$30.00 for the second runner

1. Do the dogs have to be on-lead or can they run free?

Yes. Dogs must be on a lead at all times.

1. What time can I come? Do I have to book a particular time?

Registrations will begin at 10am, and we expect the first wave to set out at 10.30am. Second Run registrations will begin at 1pm and the wave will be set out at 1.30pm. Waves will be groups of no more than 20 dogs.

1. How long is it likely to take?

Depending on which course you have selected and your level of fitness, we think it shouldn’t take more than 2 hours for the 6km course.

1. What’s involved?

The course includes, hills, water crossings, a variety of obstacles and lots of mud!

1. Can I just register and pay on the day?

No. You will need to register and pay on line before the event. Remember spaces are limited.

1. What happens if the weather isn’t great?

The event will only be cancelled in the event of an extreme weather event.

1. Can my kids come along?

Yes, you can bring your family. But please make sure there is someone to watch your children while you are on the course.

1. Does saying I’m coming on the Facebook event mean I’m registered?

No, please make sure that you fill in the form

1. Is there an entry fee?

Yes, $60.00 one dog one person, and $30.00 for the second runner.

1. What does the entry fee go towards?

Setting up the event. Any profits will be used to help desex dogs in our communities.

1. Will there be somewhere my dog and I can clean off before leaving?

Yes, outside showers will be available to clean your dog off. There will also be a mobile groomer there to offer a wash and dry service.

1. When do I have to register by?

As soon as possible to secure your spot. If we don’t get enough numbers then the event will have to cancelled. We need at least 200 entries to run the event, but we can take a maximum of 600.

1. Can I bring my friend’s dog?

Yes, as long as it meets the criteria in the terms and conditions.

1. Can I still come if I don’t live in Hamilton or Waikato District?

Yes absolutely, our event is open to all dogs and owners across New Zealand

1. Who’s organising the event?

The event is being jointly organised by Hamilton City Council and Waikato District Council Animal Control Teams.

1. Where is it being held?

Christian Youth Camp, 148 Waingaro Road Ngaruawahia.

1. Will there be parking?

Yes there is parking available onsite, with a gold coin donation

1. If I have purchased a ticket and can no longer make the event, can I get a refund?

No as noted in our terms and conditions the entry fees are non-refundable.
