Event Details
Dates: May 15 - 16, 2026
Location: Disciples Crossing, 3693 State Hwy 31 E, Athens, Texas 75752
Theme: “Along with the emphasis on equality and human rights for many people who have been marginalized, one interesting phenomenon has emerged. Many men feel left out, ignored, or made the object of scorn. In many parts of the church this concern has been met with an increased emphasis on Christian manhood. And in some places, it has resulted in many young men returning to the church. Along with this emphasis, however, there has often been teaching that makes manhood look more like Rambo than Jesus. As men and leaders in our congregations, we need to think together about what Christian manhood really is.”
Keynote Speaker:
Rev. Tom Plumbley recently retired as Senior Minister of First Christian Church, Ft. Worth, serving since July of 2001. He is a graduate of Texas Christian University. He also studied in the law school and the divinity school of Vanderbilt University in Nashville. Prior to coming to Fort Worth, he served churches in Missouri, in California, and most recently in Dallas. He and his wife, Patty, have two adult sons and five grandchildren. He was the founding president of Texans Against Violence, and was named Minister of the Year in the Christian Church of the Southwest in 2013. He's a panelist on the American Religious Townhall Meeting, the world's oldest televised religious talk show.
