Our walking tour will take you on a journey through time in the picturesque village of Corolla, NC. Immerse yourself in the rich history, beauty, and hidden gems that make this coastal haven truly remarkable.
Let our guide show and tell you about the Corolla icons. Their intersecting history created the places you enjoy today. Some highlights include the Currituck Beach Lighthouse, nearly 150 years old and still a functioning navigation aid; the Whalehead Club, created as an act of love, it stands as an almost magic remembrance of beauty and times that dramatically shaped the village; the Wild Horse museum, celebrating and explaining the banker pony’s that are unique to the Outer Banks; Waters Edge Village School, the one-room school house that is NC’s smallest public school, the Nags Head Lifesaving Station, where the Wright brothers went for help; and the Currituck Sound itself, it made most of the village possible.
Our walking tour of Corolla lasts approximately 90 minutes. You’ll finish with plenty of time to visit the opening shops and vendors before hitting our beach in the PM. We invite participants who are ready to embark on a stroll of 1.25 miles through our charming village. Please note that due to the nature of the tour and the terrain, we recommend this experience for participants aged 13 and above unless they possess a love of history. Thank you for understanding.
