Who Is It's Free To DreamWho We envision a community where every aspiration is cultivated, unhindered by obstacles to support, connection, and mental well-being. It’s Free To Dream began with a name and a loss. Founded in honor of Randi May Steeves, the Foundation was born from a family’s determination that her light would continue to reach people who feel they are facing the dark alone. In our earliest chapter, that determination took the form of awareness: galas, conversations, and storytelling that broke the silence around mental health and suicide, and rallied a community of advocates and supporters around the cause. That work mattered. It built our voice, our network, and our reputation as a foundation with heart. Awareness was always meant to be the beginning, not the destination.
Today, It’s Free To Dream is stepping fully into its purpose: delivering mental wellness programming directly to the people who need it. Rather than only pointing toward resources, we are becoming the resource, creating accessible programs that meet individuals, youth, and families where they are and walk with them toward healing. Our work is shifting from raising awareness about mental wellness to putting mental wellness into people’s hands.
We still believe in the power of community, and we still stand alongside the partners and advocates who share our mission. But our commitment now is to be a hands-on force for wellbeing, turning every dollar raised and every story told into real programming, real support, and real change.
Randi’s memory is the reason we started. The people we serve are the reason we continue. And the belief at the center of everything we do remains the same: it’s free to dream, and everyone deserves the support to chase that dream into a life worth living
