Emerging Leaders: Student Innovation & Entrepreneurship

The Innovate State Speaker Series brings both emerging and accomplished Spartans back to campus for a fireside chat-style interview. These 60-minute sessions offer the chance for guests to share their perspectives on a wide array of topics like innovation, startup life, investments, and career paths. Students get the opportunity to hear firsthand about the hard knocks of the entrepreneurship & innovation hustle to maintaining work/life balance. These are stories of success, stories of failures, and stories of uncommon will—and you do not want to miss them.

Innovate State kicks-off at 6:00 PM ET in the Entrepreneurship Lab and are free to the community. Events will be offered in-person only but are available virtually on the Friday following the event at eship.msu.edu/innovate-state/. Early registration is highly encouraged.

Yuktha Pulavarthi

Hello! My name is Yuktha Pulavarthi and I'm a Junior majoring in Marketing with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. I'm the founder of macaronza!, a business specializing in homemade macarons. Currently, I’m interning at the Burgess Institute as the Venture Kitchen Intern while also managing the market and finances for Student Made Michigan State. This year, I’m excited to take on the role of External Vice President for the Women in Entrepreneurship organization at MSU.
Saransh Mehta
CFO, Odin Classroom
Saransh Mehta is a senior at Michigan State University, where he is pursuing dual degrees in Finance and Mechanical Engineering. He is a Financial Markets Institute Scholar and CFO of Odin Classroom, an EdTech platform founded by MSU students. His diverse experiences include internships at Palm Tree, Red Cedar Ventures, and the Burgess Institute, where he honed his skills in M&A analysis, venture capital, and startup advisory. Additionally, Saransh has contributed to research at the Facility for Rare Isotope Beams and has taken on leadership roles as a Resident Assistant, Undergraduate Learning Assistant, and E-board for the Alternative Investments Group.

My name is Jordyn Wilcox and I have two startups through the Burgess Institute of Innovation. I am the founder of Player's Paradise, an esports turned anime lounge that hosts events aimed at bringing fans and enthusiasts together to engage in fun and sometimes educational activities. I am also the founder of Aura Studios Creative Agency, a creative services agency that aims to combine the best parts or fashion and marketing together to create stylish content for artists, startups, and organizations.
Erin Timmerman
Marketing & Communications Intern,

Erin Timmerman is a senior at Michigan State University, pursuing a degree in Public Relations. She currently works as a Marketing and Communications Intern for the Burgess Institute and is also a participant in the Institute's Launch Program, where she collaborates on her sister's business, Bluthreads & Co. Her diverse experiences have honed her skills in strategic marketing, social media management, and content creation. In addition, Erin is actively involved in several campus organizations, including Alpha Xi Delta, the Public Relations Student Society of America, Student-Made MSU, and Habitat for Humanity.
