Join us on May 09
DINNER, LIVE MUSIC, SILENT AUCTIONS AND MUCH MORE FOR A FUN EVENING AND HELPING TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THESE DIFFICULT TIMES FOR EMIL AND AMBER!!
It is with heavy hearts that we share Amber and Emil’s story.
Amber Mers is one of the strongest people many of us know. She is a devoted mother, a loyal friend, a dedicated employee, and above all, a fierce advocate for her son, Emil.
When Emil was an infant, he was diagnosed with Pelizaeus–Merzbacher Disease (PMD), a rare and progressive neurological disorder. Since the day of his diagnosis, Amber has devoted her entire life to giving Emil the best life possible; no matter the cost, no matter the sacrifice.
As a single mother, Amber has carried this journey alone.
She has worked tirelessly on limited income.
She has navigated unreliable nursing care.
She has managed countless appointments, surgeries, therapies, and hospital stays.
She has fought every day to improve Emil’s quality of life and to hold onto every precious moment with him.
And she has done it all with love, grace, and strength.
But today, Amber is facing every parent’s worst nightmare.
At 16 years old, Emil’s condition is declining.
He now requires additional nursing support through palliative care, and he is moving closer to hospice services with his growing decline. This means that Amber is watching her beautiful son slowly slip away and knowing there is nothing she can do to stop it. Instead, she is preparing for the day she will have to say goodbye to her youngest child.
No mother should ever have to do this.
Amber is now facing overwhelming financial burdens:
• Ongoing medical and nursing care
• Palliative and hospice-related expenses
• Funeral arrangements
• Burial plots
• End-of-life costs
• Daily living expenses while caring for Emil full-time
All while trying to stay strong for her son.
The emotional and financial weight of this is taking a serious toll on her health. She is exhausted. She is grieving. She is overwhelmed. And she is doing her best not to break.
Amber and Emil are deeply loved and supported by family and friends, but love alone cannot pay these bills. Right now, the financial need is greater than anything their support system can carry.
PLEASE JOIN US FOR AN EVENING OF FOOD, FUN, MUSIC AND MANY WAYS TO HELP SUPPORT EMIL AND HIS MOTHER, AMBER.
