Drivers of growth in the use of ETFs include: a growing middle class, desire to diversity investments, increase in pension savings and the use of third-party investment products by pension funds and insurance companies and changing regulatory landscape.
The event is designed for ETF issuers, brokerage firms and others in the ETF ecosystem globally that are interested in understanding how to tap into the growing interest in ETFs in Latin America.

Michael Barrer is a member of the Capital Markets team based in New York. The Capital Markets group is involved in all aspects of WisdomTree ETFs, including product development, seeding and bringing new products to market and working with the client base on trading strategies and best execution strategies.
Michael also supports the trading community on providing liquidity and works closely with Latin American clients on trading and investing in WisdomTree ETFs. Michael began his career in finance as an equity and ETF proprietary trader, followed by two years at Merrill Lynch in an investment-related role. Since joining WisdomTree in 2013, Michael spent a year and a half as an integral member of the sales team and later joined the Capital Markets group to concentrate on his passion for ETF markets and trading. Michael graduated in 2004 from Syracuse University with a focus on business and technology.
Alexei Bonamin is a lawyer and professor in the Capital Markets, Banking and Finance, Private Equity & Venture Capital areas. He is partner of TozziniFreire Advogados in the Capital Markets, Banking & Finance, and Private Equity & Venture Capital groups.
He holds an LL.M. degree in Banking and Finance from LSE (The London School of Economics and Political Science) and he is a graduate of the Law School of PUC-SP (Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo). Felipe Cousiño is a partner at Alessandri and head of the firm’s Capital Markets Practice which includes advising global asset management firms on the formation and registration of Chilean and foreign investment funds and advising on underlying transactions relating to their different asset classes, such as registered equity and debt securities, ETFs as well as alternative investments (private equity (including structuring exits), private debt, real estate, natural resources, aviation, mining, infrastructure). Mr. Flores has represented sponsors, issuers, servicers and underwriters in a wide variety of public and private securities offerings, including equity, real estate investment trusts (Fibras), CKDs, securitizations, unsecured debt, secured debt and subordinated debt.
Mr. Flores has also represented local and international lenders and syndicate members in all types of financings, including unsecured, secured, warehouse and asset-backed financings. Mr. Flores advised Grupo Financiero Banortein two follow-on equity offerings (including the second largest equity offering in Mexico) and also represented Credit Suisse and Barclay’s as underwriters for Grupo Financiero Interaccionesin its equity offering in Mexico and international markets. He also represented Banorte, HSBC and Multivaas issuers, and Credit Suisse as underwriter for Mifel, in several local and international offerings of Tier-2 capital subordinated securities.
Laura E. Flores
Laura E. Flores’ practice focuses on the regulation of investment companies and investment advisers. Laura regularly represents exchange-traded funds (ETFs), mutual funds, and variable insurance-dedicated products, as well as their sponsors and boards of directors, and investment advisers. She counsels both well-established clients and clients that are new to the industry on a variety of regulatory, transactional, compliance and operational issues, including the development of new financial products and services, federal and state registration issues, the preparation and implementation of compliance programs, business combinations involving investment companies and investment advisers, interpretive and “no-action” letter requests, requests for Securities and Exchange Commission exemptive relief, and regulatory examinations.
Laura also counsels investment advisory clients on matters, including advertising and communications with the public, investment adviser registration, and separately managed account (or wrap fee) programs. Laura also has significant experience representing “liquid alt” funds, funds that invest through offshore subsidiaries, and funds that utilize QFII/RQFII quotas to invest directly in securities issued and traded in China.

Prior to joining Invesco in 2018, Laure worked for 7 years as Head of Amundi ETF, Index & Smart Beta strategies for Iberia and Latin America.
Before that, she was Senior Sales Manager for Société Générale for 6 years, covering France, Iberia and Latin America. Laure holds a BSc in Mathematics at University College London and a MSc in Management from EM Lyon.

Ms. Rangel is responsible for the design and execution of the business strategy in the Institutional client segment at Vanguard Lain America, which includes the positioning of passive and active solutions such as ETFs and Mutual funds, as well as investment advisory services between Afores, Insurers, Corporations and other participants in the stock market such as Brokerage Houses and Stock Exchanges. Miguel Ruiz is a Sales Trader within Jane Street's Institutional Sales & Trading team. In this role, Miguel partners with institutional clients to understand their trading goals and provide access to Jane Street's execution strategies and services. Prior to joining State Street Global Advisors, Heinz was Head of Business Development for Vanguard in Mexico, responsible for establishing and maintaining client relationships. During his tenure at Vanguard, Heinz was the business lead in launching the Canadian ETF business.
