Are you looking to build your very own family history tree or just learn more about your family history? This event will guide you through basic techniques and some advanced strategies in order to explore your very own family history tree. Limited seating, cost $10 at the door. You must register to attend.
During the morning workshop sessions we'll look at what is available on the Genealogical Research System (GRS) at DAR.org and FamilySearch.org. These resources are available to anyone but knowing how to search these sites can help you make the most of your research time and find the information you need. Rocktown History is an Affiliate Library of FamilySearch and has access to collections which cannot be accessed from home.
Seminar Speaker Charity C. Rouse is the Director of Local History for Spartanburg County Public Libraries in Spartanburg, SC where she has worked since June, 2014. Previously she was a Genealogy Specialist at the Topeka & Shawnee County Public Library in Topeka, KS from 2010-2014. While living in Kansas, Charity received her Master of Library Science from Emporia State University. A native of Harrisonburg, VA, she also holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Richmond, and a Master of Sacred Music from Boston University School of Theology. Prior to her library work, she served churches in MA, VA, NC, and KS as a Minister of Music.
