Suspect Photography Presents the
NYC Fall Colors & Shades 3 Day Photography Workshop
November 07-09, 2025
Immerse yourself in the dynamic energy of the city during its most colorful season, fall. Suspect Photography is proud to present a unique 3-day photo workshop focused on capturing the iconic streets and neighborhoods of New York City along with the city's nature side.

This workshop is designed to challenge you to see the city in a new light. We will spend our days mastering two distinct and powerful aesthetics: the timeless drama of black & white and the stunning visual feast of fall color. You will learn to capture the narrative of the city through graphic lines, stark contrast, and the warm, rich hues of autumn.

To ensure every attendee receives focused, one-on-one attention, this workshop is strictly limited to just 6 participants. This small group setting provides an intimate and personalized learning experience, allowing you to get the most out of your time on the street.

The Neighborhoods & Places We Will Visit, Our 3-Day Itinerary
Day 1: The Heart of Manhattan
We begin in Central Park, where we'll capture the breathtaking fall colors in the iconic urban landscape as a backdrop. Our photo walk will focus on seeing the city through a new lens, culminating in a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to explore the work of a master photographer at the Man Ray exhibit.

Day 2: Islands, Villages & A Taste of NYC
Our morning starts with a scenic ferry ride to Governors Island, offering stunning, unobstructed views of Lower Manhattan and a chance to explore its unique architecture. In the afternoon, we'll immerse ourselves in the vibrant energy of the East and West Village, exploring historic spots like Washington Square Park and Tompkins Square Park. We'll end the day with a delicious group dinner at Momofuku Noodle Bar in the East Village.

Day 3: Chelsea & Review
Our final day begins with strong coffee, fresh bagels, and a focused review session to share and critique our work from the weekend. Then, we'll take to the streets for one last photo walk through the Chelsea neighborhood, capturing the final moments of our workshop at Hudson River Park and Chelsea Piers, and Little Island.
A Great Opportunity to Explore Color Photography
David Brommer teaches classes at the Maine Media Workshop on Finding Photographic Style. Practicing what he preaches, Brommer shoots only in Black & White. This is a stylistic hard choice. Rest assured, Brommer shoots in RAW so the color is there, Brommer just hides it behind a pallet of blacks and whites with every shade in between. However, on this workshop David delves into color. It's the only time of year Brommer will entertain color!
You are free to photograph as your creative vision guides you.

Why Join This Workshop?
This workshop is designed to do more than just refine your technical skills—it's about fundamentally changing how you see and create. You'll learn to explore and expand your photographic horizons, moving beyond the obvious to capture a genuine sense of time & place.

Our curriculum is built to help you see the unseen, find the story in the everyday, and translate your unique perspective into powerful photographs with a strong sense of style. By the end, you won't just have new images; you'll have a new way of seeing the world.
Workshop Focus
In this workshop, you will master a unique blend of landscape and street photography. You'll learn to find the quiet, timeless grandeur of nature-like stunning light backlighting a 200-year-old oak- and then pivot to capture the fleeting, human moments of urban life, such as a New Yorker rushing into a deli.
The real skill is not in choosing one over the other, but in seeing how both are defined by the same principles of light, composition, and story. This approach will challenge you to see the world differently and create truly impactful images in any environment.
Eat like a New Yorker
We believe workshops should fuel more than just your creativity—they should fuel your stomach, too. Our three-day event runs on memory cards, film, and a steady supply of great food. We've hand-picked a delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner at Momofuku to keep you energized (included in the workshop). But this is New York City, so we know food just happens. Along the way, you'll have plenty of opportunities to grab a classic slice, devour a legendary "dirty water dog," or find a surprise dumpling. It's the perfect fuel for a creative adventure!
"Thank you David, what a fabulous workshop you put on! Enjoyed my time with you and all my new photo friends"

The Inaugural NYC Fall Colors and Shades workshop was an absolute triumph! Our class of five intrepid photographers crossed islands and boroughs, immersed in the brash display of predominantly yellow and deep red foliage that defined the season. This workshop was designed to challenge you to see the city in a new, integrated light, focusing on city parks (both large like Central Park & Governors Island, and micro-sized). We spent our days mastering two distinct and powerful aesthetics: the timeless drama of black & white and the stunning visual feast of fall color, capturing the narrative of the city through graphic lines, stark contrast, and the warm, rich hues of autumn. Daily assignments are also given to participants, this helps focus and challenge them.

Workshop is limited to 6 students.
