If you’re coming to the 2nd Annual FDMG Academy Family Fest and are trying to decide  where you should stay then please consider the following: (prepared by the Prince of Panafrikanism)
THE REST & RELAXATION CHOICE
Shipyard Business Plaza  - Includes Hyatt Place, Homewood Suites & Westin Hotels which are less than a 10-minute drive from our campus and right across the street from A strip of restaurants, including two Black-Owned Restaurants. The Drop Squad Kitchen and The Vegan Juice Joint are both owned by Sistahs and are two of Dr.Umar’s favorite places to eat in Delaware. There’s also Timothy’s Riverfront Grill next door to Drop Squad Kitchen in case you need an option for meat eaters in your family. Should you choose to book your hotel here you will have the benefit of a hotel that’s less than a 5-minute walk away from the waterfront, where you can sit and relax for hours. Drop Squad Kitchen, & neighboring restaurants, actually face the waterfront! For those who want to just rest & relax near the riverfront this may be just what you’re looking for!

•THE SHOP-A-HOLIC CHOICE
Brandywine/Concord Pike Area Hotels - It’s very convenient to reserve your hotel in the Brandywine Section of Wilmington as you can get here quickly from our campus. All you have to do is turn left at the corner of our block and make another left turn at the very next corner, then keep straight up and within about 7-10 minutes drive you’ll be on Concord Pike which has Holiday Inn, Courtyard by Marriott, The Doubletree, Homewood Suites, Days Inn, and several other places to rest. Concord Pike boasts dozens of businesses for those who like to shop, including the Concord Mall. The Concord Mall has over 90 stores and several restaurants. This doesn’t include the 50+ additional stores all up and down Concord Pike as well. Restaurants on Concord Pike include Bonefish Grill, Brandywine Diner, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, TGI Friday’s, Longhorn Steakhouse, iHOP and many more. The Barnes & Noble Bookstore & Regal Cinema are also near Concord Pike for bookworms and moviegoers. For those who want plenty of shopping and eating options in close proximity then Concord Pike is where you may want to be.

•THE SIGHTSEERS CHOICE
Downtown Wilmington - This is the closest area to our campus and takes less than a 5-minute drive to reach the FDMG Academy. If you’re into the history of colonial America then you may want be downtown. The Doubletree, Sheraton & luxorious Hotel DuPont are among some of the hotels available to you in the city center. Plenty of restaurants abound in the business district so you’ll have no lack of options. The Delaware Art Museum, Winterthur Garden, Candlelight Theatre, City Hall, Public Library, and the Underground Railroad trail are just some of the things you can do should you choose to stay downtown.
Join us on September 10
We look forward to hosting you!
