For Freedoms Congress 
For the first time since 2020, For Freedoms will host a convening of artists, cultural institutions, organizations, and civic leaders on September 27th & 28th, 2024 at The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and across Los Angeles. PLEASE JOIN US for FFCON2024!

Join us for a casual brunch where you'll start your day exploring the exhibition Tom Van Sant: An Earth Twin at the Digital Dawn and visiting Artist-in-Residence open studios. Following this, 18th Street will present an overview of its arts and wellbeing research: Culture Mapping 90404 and CA Creative Corps, featuring insights from fellows Alicia Rojas and Audrey Chan.
12:30 PM - 2:30 PM | Studio Visit with the Great Wall of LA Artists
BERGAMOT STATION
Just a short distance from 18th St Arts Center, guests are invited to attend a studio visit with artists currently continuing the expansion of The Great Wall of Los Angeles, a monument in part located in the Tujunga Wash, a tributary of the Los Angeles River memorializing the histories of ethnic peoples of California. Hosted by Judy Baca and SPARC at Bergamot Station.
3 PM - 4:30 PM | For Freedoms Book Celebration*
PACE GALLERY, LOS ANGELES
Take a breather in the courtyard of PACE Gallery, view Torkwase Dyson’s exhibition, Here, and acquire your own copy of For Freedoms’ first publication, For Freedoms: Where Do We Go From Here? Books signed by the organization's founders and contributing artists will be available for purchase on site. For 20% off pre-orders, use code PHAIDON20.
5 PM - 8 PM | Jazz Night
LOS ANGELES COUNTY MUSEUM OF ARTS (LACMA)
Featuring a concert by Robert Porter of the west coast get down jazz collective and a special pre-show concert co-presented by For Freedoms, featuring local jazz band Black Art Distrikt promptly at 5PM.

NOTE: If you plan on joining us for Jazz Night at LACMA on Friday, early check-in for Saturday's events is recommended. Check-in hours on Friday are from 3:30PM - 7PM, across the street at Bernie's (formerly known as Johnie's) Coffee Shop—6101 Wilshire Blvd.

Before heading to LACMA, check in is required across the street at Bernie's (formerly known as Johnie's Coffee Shop)—6101 Wilshire Blvd. All pre-registered FFCON2024 attendees will receive free admission to LACMA galleries on Saturday. During check-in, you'll receive your LACMA sticker and FFCON2024 credential.

4PM-6PM | Hair Care Services x Reparations Club
Reparations Club bookstore
Access The Care Machine from Autumn Breon’s mobile installation, Care-Van, at Reparations Club and shop the artist’s collaborative reading list. The Care Machine is a singular, pink vending machine filled with objects that Black women requested in response to the following question: What items represent and provide care? The pink vending machine is fully stocked with condoms, tampons, pads, edge control, braiding hair, reproductive health resources, and books. All contents are free of charge. Supported by Plan C.

The Care Machine will be at Reparations Club from Tuesday, 09/24 - Sunday, 9/29 (Tues-Sat 11AM-6PM, Sun 12-5PM).
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 27
1PM-3PM Body Care Services x The Salt Eaters Bookshop
THE SALT EATERS BOOKSHOP
Treat yourself to a free 15 min massage, leave a message with the Care-Van Phone Boxes from Autumn Breon’s Care-Van, and browse the artist’s collaborative reading list at The Salt Eaters bookshop. Guests are invited to anonymously record their questions about ballot measures, voter barriers and more.The installation cultivates spaces of care as antidotes to voter suppression while creating a framework for localized civic engagement.  Supported by Plan C.

The Care-Van Phone Boxes will be at The Salt Eaters Bookshop during regular business hours from Wednesday, 09/25 - Wednesday, 10/02 from 1PM-6PM.

Is entry to the For Freedoms Congress free?
Yes, attendance at the For Freedoms Congress is free of charge. Self-parking at LACMA is available for $21.00/day. See directions and parking details HERE.

Important note: According to LA County museum guidelines, new health and safety protocols and procedures are in place for COVID-19. LACMA's notice to all visitors:
— Masks are strongly recommended indoors for everyone.
— Stay home if you or members of your party are sick or have COVID-19 symptoms as identified by the LA County Department of Public Health, which include fever, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, or chills.
— Do not visit LACMA if you or members of your party are currently under isolation or quarantine orders.
— An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and anyone with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable.

Will For Freedoms Congress include free admission to LACMA's galleries?
Free admission will be included for all For Freedoms Congress attendees on Saturday, 10 am - 7 pm.

If you plan to join us on Friday for LACMA's Jazz Night and want to visit the galleries, LA County residents with valid IDs are eligible for free admission from 3 pm - 8 pm. For all visitors outside LA County, please see ticketing details HERE.
