Fiber Vol. 11:
fuge b2b Fedra, Plebeian (live), Sobolik
[9.6] 6pm-midnight
One more Fiber of the summer, this time with peak summer produce and NYC’s newly minted sub-tropical vibe still in effect.

Fedra and Fuge will go back to back for the first hours of the party, setting the tone with a mix of organic and electronic sounds coming out of the deepest corners of Latin America. Plebeian, whose productions over the past ten years have grown from the deep and psychedelic into more intricate and mindblowing territory, is blessing us with a rare appearance: a live set, a conjuring of his powers to build crystalline polyrhythmic soundscape with dubby swells that will engulf you across all frequencies to make us move.  Brooklyn’s favorite bassbin activator, Sobolik is coming in after to take the helm for the later hours of the party.  Their sets generally contain some of the largest vocabulary of global soundsystem language out there, which you can see sprinkled across the hi-fidelity bass music of their eclectic back catalogue of releases that we’ve long been bumping.

Fiber brings together music, food, movement, and solidarity at your favorite deep listening space. Inspired by block parties, house parties, and other improvised friends and family celebrations, from the salões de festas of Salvador, Brazil, to the parks and apartments of New York City, we invite our favorite DJs and producers to play personal sets, digging deep into their bags to play music they love that doesn't fit easily in a club setting, letting them move you in expanded ways.  There is a 4-point Klipschorn system, in a lovely and comfortable space, and there is a homemade buffet of high-vibrational vegetarian food to keep you fueled throughout the night.

We’re happy to have some people tabling with us who are doing real work against the cruel scum in our immigration dept: Liberty City is a daily space for people to collaborate and organize systems of support and mutual aid for our compas (folks going through the immigration courts & seeking asylum), and to fight back against the Trump mass disappearance machine. This space has been created with affinity groups and immigration rights organizations to serve as a resource for compas, and sets up in Thomas Paine Park outside the Federal Plaza immigration courts where ICE abductions are happening every single day. From 6a-7p they provide resources for asylum seekers, daily court watch trainings, art projects, skill shares and workshops, and free dinners with conversation. It is a place to get plugged into rapid response efforts, build community, and get plugged into existing court watch networks – all necessary things to protect people at risk of being targeted by ICE that only happen if people step up!
