July 31 @ SunRise-4:00pm
Yellowstone River Cleanup & Recreation
The River Clean-Up and Day to Recreate on the Yellowstone is all about hitting the water, having a good time and helping clean up the Yellowstone River. The Clean-Up will remain as hands off as possible giving you and your partner free reign on the day to help clean up, maybe catch a few fish on the Yellowstone and take in all the area has to offer. The day on the river will have the following rules listed below.
Rules for Cleanup
1. A Team will consist of only you and your partner(2 people).
2. Teams are allowed to travel, cleanup and recreate on whatever section of the Yellowstone River they please between Yankee Jim Canyon and Springdale from Sun-Up to 4:00pm.
3. Teaming with Montana Freshwater Partners - River Cleanup: Evidence of a team river cleanup (pictures and a full Potato Sac of Trash) will earn the team a Stroke off of their final team golf score in the Scramble on Saturday. Each Team can turn in a max of two bags as points for score reduction(Total of 2 Strokes). However, do not let this stop you from collecting more trash and helping our community. This event is all about supporting our river and keeping the areas we recreate in nice for everyone. We suggest cleaning up as you go, however the fishing accesses, Put-ins and takeout areas are always good areas of focus as well.
4. At the end of your day come to the Murray Bar Between 3:00-5:00pm to turn in your river cleanup bags and show us your pictures so we can get you some strokes off your golf score.
Some Notes for Recreating:
1. Throughout your day please enjoy fishing and recreating on the river we all enjoy here in Livingston, MT. Hopefully it is a great day for it!
2. Make sure to follow all rules and regulations in place for the Yellowstone River (ie. Fishing/Conservation Licenses, Hoot Owl Restrictions...etc) Please handle all fish with care, keep them in the water―barbless hooks are recommended. If you do not know all the rules, ASK! We will get you straightened up with all the information you need.
3. This is peak season for fishing and there will be many guides on the river. Please be respectful of their space and the clients on their boats so they can have a great day fishing as well. We know the guides know the best spots to fish as that is what they do, so be mindful try not to low-hole guide boats if possible.
4. Aside from just river cleanup pictures, get some good photos of your day on the river and running around Livingston and Paradise Valley. We would love to add them to the Gallery for years to come.
5. If you do happen to catch some fish along the way, get a good picture of the fish in the net and in the water. Keep them Wet! A good in the net fish picture will earn the team mulligans for the Golf Scramble the next day.
Note: Teams do not need to have a raft or boat to participate. However, we do suggest it as the Yellowstone is a large river where having a boat may give you an opportunity to see more of the valley and river. If you do not have a boat to use or the ability to borrow a friends' for the event, there are still other options for your team. We love to support our local businesses here in Montana. The two Local Montana Businesses Below Rent Rafts and Drift Boats for single or multiple day use. We would suggest you call and reserve one sooner rather than later if you choose to go this route.
