You asked, so we created: New General Music Course at CMACThis hands-on, all-levels course dives into music’s nuts and bolts: from reading notation (staff, tabs, Nashville numbers, etc.), basic theory, and music history to how instruments work, how genres connect (Mozart and Willie Nelson have more in common than you think), harmony, texture, practice strategies, and even a bit of songwriting. Through step-by-step demos, practicums, play-along moments, deep listening, handouts and worksheets, we’ll demystify how music works in a supportive, curiosity-welcome environment for musicians and music-lovers alike.
The four-session course runs over two weeks: March 10, 13, 17 & 20, 6–7:30pm at CMAC HQ (Tuesdays & Fridays), and will be team-taught by CMAC teaching artists Courtney La Zier & Megan Marino, spanning multiple instruments and genres.
When you register for the course, you will receive handouts, access to Zoom links, video archives, PDF & audio examples. $100 ticket is for all four classes; walk-in/drop-in rate is $25 per class, payable at the door on the day of the session.
Designed as a cumulative series; registration encouraged, but drop-ins welcome. Zoom option available for those away from Creede. A limited number of scholarships are available - please contact us if you are interested in a scholarship.
