F.A.Q.
Do we just listen to a presentation the entire time?At this event you will challenge yourself and push your spiritual boundaries as you explore these two topics not only through the eyes of our visiting priestmonks, but also as shared by your own peers and neighboring guests at your table, via an open discussion facilitated by the monastics and local clergymen.
Should I pack a lunch? We offer plenty of coffee and tea to get you started, along with a light breakfast. Lunch is provided. For those observing the Julian Calendar, Lenten options will be available.
How much does this cost? This is a free event. However, we encourage
donations to support the
building of the new monastery church at Holy Cross Monastery in West Virginia.
Why should I donate?Holy Cross is a rapidly growing men's monastery that consists of more than two dozen monks, novices, and candidates. Most of the community are converts to the Orthodox Faith, some of whom are seasoned monks who have lived very full monastic lives for decades, while others are younger monks who have brought to the monastery a youthful vigor and energy. Additionally, the flow of pilgrims and visitors is now much greater than at any time in the past.
Holy Cross has outgrown its small, intimate chapel. They need our help
building a larger temple to accommodate both pilgrims and future monastics.
Your
donation also means that you are commemorated in prayer as a benefactor at the monastery's daily Divine Liturgy.
I want to come, but have no one to leave my children with. Do you have help? Children 3 years of age and above, who require childcare during the event, must be registered ahead of time through Childcare Admission ticket(s). Cost is
$25 per each child and will include lunch and snacks.
What language will be spoken?Despite the linguistic diversity of our audience, English will be the primary language for presentations and communications.
Why are you hosting this event? The monks of the Holy Cross Monastery have made lasting impressions on many of us during our pilgrimages to the monastery. We’ve had the privilege to have many spiritually driven conversations with them, which always dug deeper and remained as a guidance for us. We had the idea to bring their voices to a larger audience, so you could benefit too.
