This Summit is for Youth to learn about current topics impacting themselves and their peers. There will be several workshops offered in the areas of stereotypes, mental health challenges with focus on depression/anxiety, trust, and artistic forms as a means for positive expression. In the sessions you will be given an opportunity to share voice to issues concerning teens, share information, and create opportunities to learn ways to help.
Lunch will be provided. You will have a chance to enter your name to win some fun door prizes!

How do we break the stereotype? – Leena Edais
Stereotypes are a powerful lens through which, if gone unnoticed and unchecked, people begin to develop their worldview. When certain images conveying specific messages are consistently fed through the media, art, and culture. The presenter seeks to display the role of stereotypes in the world of art, throughout history, and to emphasize how the images we are fed can deeply affect the way we view one another.
When do we trust? – Saleh Soddy, Omar Aowi, Ahmed Azarq
In this trust workshop, participants will learn healthy ways to interact using team-building activities. They will learn how to use safety percussion measures with taking risks, making mistakes, and being vulnerable with peers. Learn new skills about increasing trust and psychological safety.
Youth Mental Health ( Depression and Anxieties)s – Lourdez Pulou-Isaako
This presenter will use the power of her story to help participants understand they are not alone. Writing prompts will be used in this workshop to provide new ways of thinking about depression and Anxieties.
Inter Weaving Cultural Art – Sulafa Azrag
In this workshop participants will be asked to design an individual piece of art that represents themselves. In a circle, discussion students will share and be asked to find the similarity and connections in their identities.
The Unknowns about African Cultures – Farrah Aowi
In this workshop specific attention will be dedicated to African culture. Now, you will ask yourself, why do I need to learn about someone else's culture? Actually, when you learn about different cultures it will be easier to communicate, express, and understand with respect for other people. You can learn about the culture, food, religion, clothes, and languages. Join me in this workshop to explore something new.
