An Adaptation of William Shakespeare's Richard II

Thursdays - 7:30pm
Fridays -8:00pm
Saturdays -7:00pm & 9:30pm

“Not all the water in the rough rude sea
Can wash the balm off from an anointed king;
The breath of worldly men cannot depose
The deputy elected by the Lord.”

In the pressing bleakness before first bloom bursts into spring, a flame is lit which threatens to consume the precious and fragile divinity of a King. This monarch is not blameless in their plight, but can it be justice to unseat a ruler chosen by holy fate? What kind of future awaits when power is wrenched from the hands of the rightful King?

This March 2022, Her Majesty and Sons is proud to present director Séamus Miller's adaptation of Shakespeare's stunning and curious masterwork: RICHARD II. This Richard is complicated and finely drawn, brought to full bodied life by Acacia Danielsson. Ms. Danielsson is a highly skilled Shakespearean performer whose power and sensitivity capture the contradictions and nuances of this tragic king. Her Richard will be pitted against the sharp and passionate usurper Henry Bolingbroke; portrayed by local favorite and Her Majesty & Sons' TWELFTH NIGHT company member Ryan Sellers.

Join us in the newly renovated Church of the Resurrection March 3rd - 12th for our exploration and investigation of one of Shakespeare's more rarely performed and most beautiful plays; the fiery tale of a treason which shook a nation to its core and changed the course of history forever.
