UConn hasn’t been tested to this point of the seasons as they have crushed their first three opponents including Central Connecticut, Coppin State and Long Island. The Huskies won by an average of 46.3 points in those games, though the schedule will get tougher when they play in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament next week.
Binghamton will enter Saturday’s game with a 1-2 record with a win over Sacred Heart in addition to losses to Cornell and Columbia, which took place on Wednesday in a game that went into overtime. Johnathan McGriff is the go-to guy for the Bearcats as he shot the ball exactly 17 times from the floor in every game this season.
UConn was completely in charge on Wednesday, breezing past the LIU Sharks 93-40 at home. UConn got double-digit scores from five players: forward Tyler Polley (17), guard Andre Jackson (14), guard Jalen Gaffney (11), forward Adama Sanogo (11), and guard Tyrese Martin (10).
Meanwhile, Binghamton came up short against the Columbia Lions on Wednesday, falling 85-77.
UConn is the favorite in this one, with an expected 29-point margin of victory. Those taking them against the spread are banking on an outcome similar to that of the team's contest on Wednesday, where they covered a 28.5-point spread.
Connecticut's victory lifted them to 3-0 while Binghamton's defeat dropped them down to 1-2. In Connecticut's win, Andre Jackson had 14 points along with five rebounds and three blocks and Tyrese Martin had ten points in addition to seven boards. We'll see if Binghamton have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
