Review the newest diabetes technology in terms of continuous glucose monitors, insulin pens, and insulin pumps.

Network with international geriatric diabetes experts and educators

Day 2 Programming (virtual or in person participation):
Session 1: What are the unique characteristics of older adults with diabetes?
Why is it important to understand frailty and geriatric syndrome and consider
them as you develop diabetes management strategies
Breakout session: Hands on training on using technology with physical
barriers encountered by older adults with diabetes
Session 2: Ask me! Led by older adults with diabetes and their caregivers –
Perspectives and discussion regarding Glycemic goals, technology use, shared
features, and caregiver stress
Session 3: Challenges of developing approaches to managing older adults with
diabetes in a variety of settings: community dwelling, long term care, hospice/
end of life
Breakout session: Small group discussion about availability, use, challenges of
using diabetes technology
Session 4: How to identify and realign strategies to overcome new barriers to
diabetes care in older adults with diabetes as they age
Breakout session: Case-study discussion
Session 5: Download and analyze data from the wearable devices from Day 1.
Fellows will also learn how to troubleshoot common diabetes technology
problems
