Kelly Raudenbush and John LoRusso
The Sparrow Fund
Kelly Raudenbush is the co-founder and Executive Director of The Sparrow Fund, a nonprofit based in Chester County committed to walking closely with adopted and foster children and their grownups since 2011. Kelly holds her master’s degree in counseling from Mission Seminary and her Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health clinical certification from Georgetown University. She leads a team of seven human staff and one canine colleague—Banks, a specially trained golden retriever who holds expertise in making hard things a little easier. She and her husband Mark, who serves as The Sparrow Fund’s Director of Operations, have been married since 1998 and have four children ranging in age from 24 down to 17, the youngest of whom they adopted through China’s special needs adoption program as a toddler. Kelly is particularly passionate about (a) partnering with parents to help children process and understand their histories in healing ways; (b) encouraging, equipping, and empowering parents as they navigate the effects of trauma and build connections with each other and
their children; and (c) helping grownups in their own neighborhood and across the world best experience the power of relationship.

John LoRusso works as a Finance Executive with undergraduate degrees in Economics and International Politics from Penn State University and a Master’s of Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s University. He and his wife Melissa have been connected to The Sparrow Fund for over a decade. Following the adoption of their daughter in 2017, as they experienced a gap in care, they sought out support from The Sparrow Fund and experienced great help and healing through the Together Called marriage retreat and therapeutic services. Their firsthand experience of The Sparrow Fund’s care for vulnerable families prompted them to move from just receiving to partnering. They are valued donors and volunteers and count it a privilege to make a way for other families to receive the holistic support they need as they navigate the complexities of adoption.
